I just found a new diesel magazine called Diesel World. First issue. Excellent information on subjects ranging from biodiesl, with interviews from DCX fuel specialists, to running SVO, to installing a BD Performance BD X tuner on a Liberty CRD, complete with pictures on the installation and a dyno chart of the hp/torque of before/after at the wheels of the CRD.
Also some information on the available gauges for diesel engines and their uses.

Another section covered the Mercedes E320 diesel engine, and there is some information on how to buy a used diesel vehicle, what checks to perform. Another useful section was a complete description of different diesel fuel designs, from rotoray pumps, to HUEI, to Common Rail designs. Lots of details on how they work and why. Pretty interesting.

Any info on where it's available at, online web site , etc? Since Diesel Power is turning out to just be another advertising rag for the pickup crowd, would be interested in something new.

I found this one at a Barnes & Noble bookstore. Its only published 4 times a year, similar to dp when they started. They don't list a website, but do have this contact information:

Subscription Services: 800-999-9718
Main Phone: 714-939-9991
Email: dieselworldeditor@apg-media.com
Editor: john.stewart@apg-media.com

They have some truck articles too - one on how to upgrade your Dodge 47RE to 48RE quality from a diesel transmission specialist. More information, less personal opinions than dp. I really liked the pictorial article on how to upgrade the CRD Liberty with the BDX tuner. Showed how to connect each injector to unit and the power connections. Seems to cover a lot ground, but it is their first issue.

The cover on this issue almost turned me away - its a picture of a monstor diesel pickup, but I still found some non pickup truck info inside, but still pickup truck articles are also present. Not enough other diesels vehicles out there yet. Hope they don't go the same route dp did.

This magazine is produced by a company called Ten Magazines.

Here's a little write up posted last November.

I can't tell if Diesel Truck World and Diesel World are two different magazines, or two ways of referring to the same magazine. They currently only list 4 magazines on their website (Trucks, Ford Truck, Chevy Truck, and Dodge Truck).

I'm glad to hear that they're doing some articles on the CRD. I'll be getting a copy as soon as I can find one!!

Thanks for the heads-up!!!

Web site and the magazine look to be two different deals.

Love the magazine. BD X Tuner turns out to be duration only, no pressure. Harness hooks up to the 4 injectors and to the box, box has positive and negative hookups to battery. Sounds almost exactly like the Van Aaken Smartbox. Looks like we've got at least 2 "safe" bets when it comes to performance boxes now.

From their graphs, added roughly 20 HP and 30 ft/lbs torque. Plus, it moved peak HP up 200 rpm, and lowered peak torque by 250 rpm. This is all measured at the rear wheels. Not only upped performance, but effectively widened the power band.

Base - 129.3 bhp at 3350 rpm, 248.5 ft/lbs at 2650 rpm - peak at rear wheels.

BD Tuner - 153.4 bhp at 3550 rpm, 277.9 ft/lbs at 2400 rpm - peak at rear wheels.

Looking at the dyno graphs, even in stock form, this puppy is just waking up at 2000 rpm! Torque stays above 200 ft/lbs from just under 2000 rpm all the way out to 3400 rpm!

Sounds like a good improvement, because we all know just how deficient the CRD is in the torque dept and could stand a little more!

Any mention in the article on what the BD X box costs? Or a website?

And when you say its a duration box, Is it making the duration longer or shorter? Just wondering if its leaner or richer and how it would effect gas mileage...

$579.00
www.dieselperformance.com

Assume they are lengthing injection unless they are selling power loss tuners. No mention in the article of what happens to mileage if you run on gas.

Actually, if you go to the website and check their price list (dated March 10th), the X Power for the Liberty is $435. The Ram X Power is $579, sounds like they got their prices mixed up in the article.

Also noticed on their price list, they're developing an overhead roof liner mounted kit for their digital X Monitor Pyro/Boost gauge for the CRD. No price as yet, just listed "coming soon".

So I take it, this module is a good choice or recommended for the CRD by most of you ?

I would consider it "apparently worthy of serious investigation" at this point. I'm starting my research. "Doesn't increase rail pressure..." is enough to get me started looking at anything that can help tune this beast into even more of a monster. :-) Don't get me wrong, I'm not grasping for more power like this thing was a Chevette with an auto tranny. I'd just like it to run as well as it can.

haha, yeah, I should have said fuel mileage :)

on gas engines power usually comes from leaning the fuel mixture out, thats why I was curious if they shorten or increase the injector pulse width. Usually increasing the pulse width means FUEL mileage drops.. hehe...

Most of the time on a gas motor when you increase power by leaning it out you gain GAS mileage :) However, I dont know all that much about diesels...

Would be pretty nice to have a overview of all available performance modules for the CRD. How much they cost and what they do.
I am anxiously awaiting the Bully Dog programmer for the CRD.

The article said in lengthens the injection pulse, and fuel use is proportional to the amount of extra fuel your adding. No free ride here.
The article also acknowledged that we have a pretty hot engine already, so they didn't have as much to play with, unlike some of the other diesels.
