Hey everybody - I walked out to my Jeep this morning and noticed a mysterious hose dangling from underneath my Jeep.

There were no fluids coming from the hose, but it definitely appears to be something that should be connected to another spot.

Any ideas what this hose and is its sudden appearance an indicator of other issues? I am curious as to how difficult it is going to be for me to reconnect this hose since it is above the exhaust system...

I am hoping that it is the AC drain hose, but still cannot figure out how it suddenly flopped onto the ground.

looks like the breather hose for your transfer case.

It is the vent hose for the transfer case!
It should be attached to the firewall as high as possible in case you ever do any river crossings.
Simply route it up to the firewall and zip tie it to something in that location...

Thank you guys - I do occasionally cross creeks and small rivers in my KJ. Will break out the zip ties shortly.

rubber hose is CHEAP! buy a new length, say 5 feet, and get a cheap fuel filter like this one and put it on the top......keeps the dirt/ dust out yet allows the diffs to freely breath.

FYI: The transmission also has a vent tube on top that does not have a vent hose connected to it from the factory for some dumb reason!
I cut the transfer case vent hose in this area, added a "Tee" and a short piece of hose and connected it to the vent tube on top of the transmission and then added a couple of feet of extra hose to the end of the OEM vent hose and terminated it just behind the battery for water induction protection...
