I decided to dig through my used oil filter recycling pile tonight, and cut open, using a hacksaw, both a "Made In Italy" Mopar oil filter, and a USA made Purolator Pure One PL24230 oil filter. The conclusion is that they look very similar, and are both excellent filters. They have the check valves placed in the same place, unlike some other filters (Wix, Napa, etc.). The Mopar filter has a heavier duty spring in the end of the canister, but I do not see how it would affect anything. The Mopar also has a much heavier canister. They are dented up due to placing them in a vice to cut them open with a hacksaw. Please excuse the messy workbench. I have not cleaned the garage since doing the last engine rebuild.
