I am going to install a high/low switch to turn on the electric fan, what happens if for instance i had it on high and the ecm also turned on the low? would it damage the fan?

In this case i would simply be running 1 wire for each relay, and sourcing a fused 2 amp 12v source. In this case it would be possible for the switch to be in the high or low position and have the ac engage, turning the fan onto high or low automagically per the ecm.

So what would happen? running the fan with both sets of windings sounds like a bad idea to me (this is what would happen, no?) i ask because my wife also operates the crd and i would hate for that to happen.

I know gmctd has done this also and i think he just ran from the relays to his own +12v.

I know i can also switch the ecm's ability to power the relays but i would like to KISS. However i will if i must.

Thanks everyone! Images and write-up was just what i was looking for.

I pulled my clutch fan to perform the TB and WP service and installed a Flex-A-Lite 16" fan instead with a thermostat. This is for primary engine cooling. The Intercooler and radiator are separated by over an inch apart so I didn't want to relay on the A/C fan along. Also, you could use the A/C fan separably to aid in intercooler or transmission cooling separate from the radiator cooling. Its there so I wanted to wire it up all at the same time.

Thanks again!

Chris
