Post subject: | 5 Volt Metal Glow Plugs NOT sold separately- What?? |
Several weeks ago I got a P1261 glow plug failure CEL condition. I had already updated to the metal lower voltage plugs several months earlier including ECU flash and new controller. So its "aww man now a metal plug went out." Well I guess it happens. Nice thing though it was plug #1 ( the real easy one to R+R!). So ordering process threw me a curve as none of the Chrysler Parts Houses sell the plug alone. Had to buy a complete set with another controller! So.... I am going to keep 1 plug as extra and officially post 2 ea 5 volt metal glow plugs at $35 ea shipped (USPS flat rate box limits) and the 5 volt controller at $35 shipped ( same USPS limits). This is all new product, never installed and properly shipped. So if Mopar is still doing this product availability/ kit only injustice this is a good way to pick up on a glow plug only spare part as --- If mine went out/failed chances are yours may too. PM me if interested or respond if somebody can find a plug only serarately (and at the price). Roland |

Who did your re-flash to the 5 volts ? Did you install the new set of 4 yourself ? |

More proof that Chrysler Parts Marketing People use drugs like Cocaine. What else could explain why they don't sell individual 5V Glow Plugs. It also explains the parts prices. ![]() ![]() |

Odd. The PN for individual 5v glow plugs appears to be 68090430AA and I can find them from several suppliers including IDParts although, no surprise, the individual plug price is steep compared to the kit of 4 plus controller. Silverdiesel's price for his "spares" is reasonable in that context. However, I also find it odd that a new 5v glow plug would fail apparently so quickly. Failure is certainly possible but it makes me wonder if Silverdiesel's system was, in fact, correctly reflashed for the 5v plugs. I know it's stated the flash was done but my second 05 "had" the F-37 TCM flash done according to DCJ records when, in fact, that was not the case. If the 5v plug failed it would be good to get some posted values testing for good/bad 5v plugs as the FSM only has the values for testing the original ceramic 7v plugs. So Silverdiesel any chance you can test the "bad" plug readings vs. one of the new plugs? |

I can get them each from one of my suppliers in Europe. They are Bosch plugs, and are roughly half the cost of the same Bosch plug (68090430AA) from Mopar. They are $40/ea. shipped. If anyone needs these, feel free to PM me. |

Quite a while ago Green Diesel Engeneering ECO tune got the flash in for the 5 Volt plugs.... I did all the plugs myself- pretty involved especially #3 as the manifold/tube to the intake plenum has to be removed to get to the plug. All this happened before IDparts was carrying alot of VM parts so I ordered from MoparPartsAmerica. I happened to find the leftover glowplug set recently and see new parts I will never use hence the sales. I, from now on, will check with IDparts in the future. I think I got a metal plug that just went out-- my usual bad luck... I will run a Ohm meter test soon. I did the ohm test initially on the plugs when I got the P1261 to verify plug #1 failed but I had the CEL on for quite sometime but living in the desert created a no rush to get this done AND it was plug #1 so it was easy to get to so a bit procrastination went on.
