I see many posts on GP failure. 125k miles on mine and no GP issues. I live in the midwest so they get used. Not sure If I'm just lucky or my habits have contributed. I turn the key and wait for all the lights to go out before I crank. Anyone else? |

I'm at 100K and the originals but #2 is dead. Hoping it makes it through the winter ok then steel ones will go in, in the spring. Not to thrilled about trying to get the ceramics out after all the horror stories.. |

Still running orginals at 71k , and also use the block heater in winter months. I think replacing with steels will be on next summer project list. |

Just got back from my diesel mechanic. My broken #1 and #2 caused damage to the cylinders. Also, the pieces that broke off and went through the engine messed up my turbo. My #4 being frozen in the head was also due to lack of preventative maintenance. If they were changed out periodically, it wouldn't have frozen in. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2 |

81K and AFAIK mine are original. They are the ceramics from what I can see with the original relay. I have a Mopar kit, and plan to let the dealer install them, this way if there is an issue, it's on them. I plan to do that very soon, probably within weeks. |

IIRC, there was a member who had his done by the dealer. He had one frozen in and had to pay for head removal. Book says 9.5hrz labor (the one my private mechanic uses for estimates) Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2 |

85kish and counting.. still original when we bought the Jeep..at 30kish miles.. I'm seriously thinking about getting a set of steel one and replacing before they die.. my next thought would be to disable and bypass the glow plugs.. most of the time the jeep parks in a garage that says above 50 in the winter.. -dkenny |

I'm at 92k. I still have originals, but they do not get much of a work out here in sunny California. Reading all these replies makes me want to change them sooner rather than later. |

You won't miss them at 50 degrees. I ran without glowplugs for a pretty good while. I changed the plugs out to 5 volt after I had a ceramic fail. I left the Bosch relay out until I got the flash. Went all Spring, and Summer without them. Just got the flash a couple weeks ago. Here in Tennessee, I think I could get by with it 9 months of the year, but I would hate having a CEL the whole time. |

I had to replace one to get through the new NY inspections requirements! I actually replaced it with a used original from another CRD owner who had already replaced his. It was a time issue in order to get through the inspection. |

All orginal for me in western PA. 100k. I ski all winter and have to use them at up there. Starts as soon as you hit the key regardless of temp. I had them out at 94K. cleaned, Inspected and reinstalled with antiseze. |

Mine are still original @ just over 100K miles. The glow plug indicator still briefly lights up when turning on the ignition when the temps are cold enough for it to be needed and no codes being thrown indicating that there is any sort of issue with the glow plugs. |

207k on my 2006 with the original glow plugs. I live in the piedmont area of NC, so the winters are not terrible and the car is kept in a garage. The #2 plug just died and I have ordered the metal ones to replace all 4. |

I've got 1 original left and they get heavily used. #3 blew after 18 months at about 15k IIRC, #4 about a year later and #1 a couple years ago. #2 is still original so it really is the luck of the draw as far as life expectancy goes. |
