Hello,

I have read several posts that refer to this concern, however, it appears that no one has arrived at the final repair for this problem. If you all would check in with your latest information as well as all of the items you have tested/replaced I believe we can create the thread with the final fix.

Thanks

Alan

Hi,

Brand new to this area but have been reading the forum for a few years. Not a mechanic in any form or fashion but was tired of feeling like I was getting ripped off at the dealership so I do what I can on my jeep when I can.

I believe from memory the p0093 code is a fuel leak problem. I have a few questions for you - Have you replaced the fuel filter head with the second generation fuel filter head? Are you having trouble starting your jeep that it requires you to bleed the fuel filter? Over time fuel leaks from the actual fuel filter and due to bad construction diesel seeps out through the fuel heater element on the fuel filter head.

The main problem is not that fuel is leaking from the fuel filter head but that air is coming into the fuel system(fuel leaking is a problem just not the main one). When you replace the fuel filter head with the second generation it fixes these problems to an extent.

The problems I had were no power going uphill, difficulty accelerating on straight aways, black smoke upon hard acceleration, and difficulty starting up which required to bleed the fuel filter of air. After replacing the fuel fuel filter head(very easy, hardest part is scrimping the fuel filter wires together), all these problems went away minus the black smoke but has decreased. Once you reflash your vehicle the code should go away. If not you should still see marked improvement in your vehicle.

Please let the forum if this helps and to anyone reading this if any of this sounds wrong please correct it.

paul

The fuel filter head had already been replaced and there were no starting problems on this vehicle. I replaced the fuel pressure sensor and the pressure control solenoid but still had the code and the symptoms. I installed afuel pump to feed fuel and attempt to avoid aeration and had no positive results. Finally I was watching fuel pressure and revving it to about 3000 rpm for about 30 seconds. After I did this it never set P0093 again or went into limp. I have replaced the MAF sensor for a code but that code still returned, also replaced the inlet pressure sensor which fixed a code for that. I feel that the final step will be to clean the intake out completely and install a new map sensor.

5 weeks ago I bought an 05 with 110k on it. I immediately replaced the timing belt, water pump and thermostat. I have also installed the provent and cleaned out the intake hoses/intercooler. I almost forgot a k&n filter as well. I was blowing a ton of smoke and after lurking the boards for a while, I sent the ecm off to GDE to get the eco-tune. No more smoke, but it goes in to limp mode sometimes. I have my OBDII live read out to monitor fuel pressure and it seems fine. When I lay on the gas, I can hear one of the injectors is sticking.

Yesterday I ordered the Racor 245 assembly to replace the oem. Next week I am going to take the injectors to Austin Injection to have them test and clean them.

I don't know about a P0093

however I'd recommend that you post over in the CRD....Love that Torque section
that's the main Diesel discussion you'll definitely have more views and you may have some more answers

Until the thread gets moved....

I had the same code. Replaced the fuel filter as a first measure, disconecting the wiring from the filter head so I could get my mitts in there to change it out. Randomly I left the wiring disconnected when I bled the filter and diesel / air bubbles started blowing through the electrical portion of the sensor, NOT where the sensor threads into the housing. There was my leak.... it would be easy for you to check yours with the rig all assembled, just disconnect the electrical connections at the filter head and watch for diesel / air bubbles.
