the jeep is fine. ;)

just broke the rear driver's side window regulator.
the small plastic piece the connect the spring worm gear to the vertical lift piece on the metal track.

gee if they made it from something about the twice the size..made metal..it might have lasted..

so far the cheapest I seen is about $54 for the unit..anyone know of a cheaper unit? my wife doesn't use this window much if ever..

at the moment I strapped a piece of 3/8 pex to the metal track to hold the window up.

we looked the manf date is like 11/2005..just passed the warranty..darn..
they should be life time replace since the design is garbage..20cents worth of plastic would have
made it better.. 1/2-1 dollar replace the plastic traveller piece with metal..
ok 1/2-1 dollar is a guess so make it $5-10..so..bean counter engineering again...

would i buy another Jeep..NO! nor recommend a jeep to someone..
for something that is supposed to take beating and keep on running..its just breaks if it left alone..forget pounding on a trail..too bad with a diesel and drive train..its fun to drive off road..now if they would make stand up the original durability..wow..that would be great.

rant on..ignore if you like
sorry..but I'll take manual wind up windows any day..of all the cars I've owned..I don't think any ever had a problem..not even the 65bug I first learn to drive in..the windows always worked..I'm not against advancedments but sometimes we must ask are we going forward?
rant off

I bought 2 of the Steigers for the back, and when the front ones went out I bought these:

half the price of the Steigers for 2 of them...seem to be made just as well.

I've seen the cheap eBay Chinese knock offs but elected to pay the extra for the Steiger's; just saying.

IIRC more importantly for 06 owners be aware that there was a change in the design during the 06 model year such that a different repair kit is needed from that used for the 05 and earlier 06s. Also note that some of the 05 and early 06s got a warranty repair that involved new glass and the use of the later regulator but still with the cheap breakable plastic piece and those too will need the later model repair kit when the plastic piece breaks.

I feel your pain, I just missed warranty as well despite the failure point being exactly the same as the ones that are warrantied.

Agreed, these regulators are a PITA. Both my rears failed. What's the point of having the rear lockout safety switch when these windows are going drop open on their own?

Make sure you contact Chrysler and tell them how you feel and make it clear that, since they refuse to stand behind their product, you won't be buying another Chrysler vehicle.

Heck, I'm sure if Toyota can recall their vehicles because the window switch may stick a bit and owners may be tempted to use the wrong lubricant then Chrysler can recall for an actual design defect.

Also, since this is a safety issue don't forget to file your complaint http://www.safercar.gov/Vehicle+Owners/
