Hello all, I did a search and found out that most CRD owners install the shift kit just into valve body, which is only partial installation. What is the reson for this? Is full installation worth it? I am ready to change my torque converter and will install trans go shift kit with it, but I am not sure which way to go - to proceed with kit instruction for full installation or follow the forum advice and just change some parts in valve body. Please clarify. Thank you all. |

IIRC the reason some folks only do the valve body part is that they don't want to dig further into the system to do the TC which I believe is necessary to get to the pump to finish the full install. If you are going in that far anyway then by all means do the full install, minus the resistor if it still comes with the kit. Obviously I have the full install as SunCoast did my TC install. |

Thank you papaindigo. Previously I followed your link about installing the transgo shif tkit and it is where I found that you only did partial installation into the valve body. Hence the question... |

valve body and pump check valve replacement is the best way to go if you are dropping the transmission. the check valve on our CRD's is the weak link. You don't have to take the pump out of the transmission to do it. |
