During the latest snow storm I engaged the 4 wheel drive and it worked perfectly, but now it will not return back to normal so now my transfer case is stuck in 4low. Has anyone experienced this before and what was the fix? |

Have a look at the clip at the end of the transfer case selector cable where the cable attaches to the selector arm - it is a known weakness, and has been covered a few times. If it's broken, you might be able to move the selector arm manually to get it back into 2WD. If the cable is attached ok then it might be held in 4Lo by windup and will require abit of rocking on loose surfaces to free it up. Hope your not driving it in 4Lo on pavement. |

Are you sure it is actually IN 4-lo, and not just the indicator light sticking to 4-lo while the transfer case is actually operating normally? I ask because a sticking sensor on a properly functioning transfer case is also a known issue. There is a switch that operates the signal light ONLY on the TC housing, is easily and cheaply replaced. If the TC is indeed sticking in 4-lo, you don't dare drive it on dry pavement, lest severe damage occur. |
