hi,
i tried to find a thread on the subject but didnt find any...

My dashboard ventilation next to the heater is dying step by step. The levels 1, 2 & 3 died a few weeks ago. I realised it only because there start to have a lot of condensation in the car and on the windows, and the KJ never any (which i love!).

Then this am, i switch to the 3rd blowing level and nothing happened.
The level 4 is the only one working now...I don't think there are fuses to the ventilation, no?
What should I check/replace ?.....thanks !

I am going mudding this week end, and i am scared that the inside of the KJ will be like accuarium if the level 4 dies as well...

Probably just need to replace the resistor board, this is a fairly common problem.

Yep, had the same thing happen to me. It's a small board right behind the glove box. Just be careful, you can cut yourself pretty bad getting it out on the sharp edges if you're not careful.

It's called a Blower Motor Resistor, should be about $25. You can pick it up at any local auto parts store.

Haven't seen this in a while.

From an old post (I don't have the link) - Yesterday speeds 1 and 2 stopped working on the cabin heater/AC fan on my 06 CRD and I found this thread. Here's pictures of old (right) and new (left). I got mine at Advanced Autoparts and it's ceramic covered (picture shows green covering) as mentioned. The brand is BWD and part number is RU1040 and is listed for a 2001-2004 Chrysler Sebring. To get to the resistor open the glove box then press inward on the latch arms on the left and right side to let it drop down further. The resistor is right there held on by two 5/16 hex head screws. You need to pull out on the red tab about 1/4" to push the release and it required some pressure to get the red tap to pull out.

This is again precise and valuable information, thanks to all !
I will check with my dealer if there have the part in stock. if not i will order it from the US.

For this week end mudding i will just roll down the windows to avoid inside condensation...mmm...or maybe its not a good idea... :ROTFL:

Cheers !

A auto parts store should have this part or be able to get it. No need to go to a dealer.

He's in Switzerland :SOMBRERO: I doubt there's a Advanced Autoparts or Auto Zone there.

Joe is right, no autozone around here, people are uselsess here when it comes to fixing things on their own, mechanics are semi gods :grim:

Guys! thanks again!
I am picking up the last resistor that the local Jeep dealer has, in one hour: 60$ .
Most probably i would have fixed the problem in less than a day after posting this thread !

I will even be able to keep the mud out of the car tomorrow !

cheers !

sorry Hexus, am swiss but never learned German...
but thanks for the week end good luck (good google translate :-) )

i also wanted to highlight that replacing the resistor solved my ventilation problem !
It was more than welcome because the saturday was real humid and muddy, as expected.

I posted some pics and vids of the day on the picture thread.

thanks !
