Hi,

This is a Jeep Cherokee (KJ or Liberty) 2.8 CRD limited 2003 model with 215 000km on the clock.

This happens when the car is floored. This has been happening for about 30 000km and is not getting better or worse, if i floor the car it happens every time at high revs (from about 2400rpm). It just started one day I tried passing a truck on the highway. The car i drivable and can easily do 120km/h. It is hard to describe in words so I took this video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEA1cHiM8T0

The car was at a jeep specialist for about 4 weeks but he could not solve the problem. He replaced the injectors, checked the fuel system, electrical wiring, exhaust system and removed the catalizator.

Whenever this happens the service light goes on, if I switch the car on and off the service light is off. When the analysis computer is connected is says there is fault with the boost pressure sensor, which was also replaced.

I already spent a lot of money on this problem and if someone have any suggestions if would be appreciated. Is this similar to the limp mode problem i've read about in other treads?

Regards
Gerrit

Could you provide the fault code number?

If the performance is down you are most likely in a limp mode. it sounds like the turbo is turning on and off due to the large fluctuation in boost. You may have an EGR issue and can unplug the vacuum line to the EGR to see if the problem goes away.

Thanks for replying.
No sorry I don't know the fault code. With the next service i will try to get it.
Yes it happens when the car is cold.
Thank you for the idea of disabling the ERG pump by blocking off the vacuum line, I did it but made no difference..

Any other comments will be appreciated.
