I got the belt from Amazon.com for $75 & free shipping.

Finally completed the timing belt, thermostat and water pump this weekend. Started on Friday 07DEC12; drained the coolant. Saturday 08DEC12; removed the bumper, radiator, and intercooler, fan shroud, timing belt cover, and installed the timing pins, removed water pump and thermostat. Sunday 09DEC12; marked all pulleys and removed the timing belt, painted timing belt cover Chrysler red, cleaned radiator inside and out, cleaned intercooler inside and out (no leaks), installed new water pump and thermostat, installed timing belt and checked for correct timing, installed timing belt cover, and installed all associated parts from before. Finish all installation at 1800 and test drove it at 1830 around the block. All procedures I got from YOUTUBE (Jeep Liberty Timing belt replacement).

I think at the original old thermostat was stuck open because the new thermostat keeps the engine at the center of the temp meter the old thermostat kept the meter at 1/3 the way all the time and fluctuated and hard acceleration.

Im in Wisconsin. I've got a quote for $1200 for parts & labor. They've got a good reputation however it's over an hour drive to get there. I am going to schedule the job for early Feb. to suit my schedule. Gonna take a personal day and maybe rent a car for the day and go see what kind of trouble I can get myself in, being I probably won't have any adult supervision. :mrgreen:

I just had my timing belt done by Golden Gate Jeep in San Francisco. Us California folks know how hard it is to find a qualified CRD mechanic. These guys are an independent Jeep shop and they're great. They are actually familiar with crd's (I know... seems impossible). Anyway, i highly recommend them.

It was pricey. $1700 with all pulleys, tensioner, waterpump, serp belt, etc. But, seems to be quality work and they were familiar with the vehicle. There were actually 2 other crd's in the shop at the time, and that must be half the crd's in the Bay Area!

Don't see the Thermostat in your pricing? Did you replace OEM or do an Inline?

IMHO there is less than zero reason to replace the tstat during the timing belt job assuming, ov course, that you tstat is functioning correctly (e.g. operating temp on the gauge is just slightly left of vertical). The tstat can be replaced when needed in about 30 minutes without dealing with any other system and losing only a qt or so of coolant. I prefer the OEM replacement (am on kap's list for his mod) but some like the inline.

you can do it yourself, just be very careful tensioning the belt, that's the major deal in doing the t-belt. Watch Sam's video's

I am going to call next week to schedule. for $1200 its everything. Idlers, tensioner, water pump, belt coolant, T-belt, and serpentine belt. We shall see how it goes.

UPS did a drive by and I got a box from I.D. Parts today. I have and appointment in a week and a half for the Timing belt/ water pump job. Currently at about 99,400 on the clock so its due. As I said before, the place I'm taking it too is over an hour away, and my plan has been to rent a car for the day, being left to my own devices. However, the missus is able to come along so I will in fact have adult supervision. But sounds like the in-laws are gonna take the kids for an overnight, so we are going to have an overnight stay ourselves. Not often we get a night off. Post up more on this experience with the shop when the job is done.
