Have replaced fuel filter, cleaned MAP and airbox sensors, hoses look and feel good.
Starts and runs for about 20 miles and then after shut down and restarted it's in limp mode. Then it powers back up to normal!
Codes: U0121 P0069
The picture in Sams NOOB shows a MAP that is clean and seems to have a black blob on the inside...mine has only a copper colored element....wondering if that's the problem?
Ordered a new MAP.
The ESP light was on for a short time but went out.

Any help greatly appreciated as I am running out of ideas!

Thanks, Richard

If you follow the links in Sams NOOB guide you can download the service manual for your 2006 KJ....about 140 Mb

Code U0121 is "lost communication with ABS module" which could be a problem.
Code P069 is "boost key rationality"....that is all I can find on this code :?

Comments:
1. a clean MAP should have a clean "sausage" shaped bulb at the end. By clean I mean free of crud. The color of the buld IMHO doesn't matter although when new IIRC it's a copper color. When cleaning don't try to scrub it.
2. I'm not sure about P0069. That code is not in the 06 FSM and on my other code list from the forum it's listed as BOOST KEY-ON RATIONALITY whatever that means.
3. U0121 and an ESP light strongly suggest a brake system problem. Likely a sticky wheel sensor, intermittent contact (broken wire) to wheel sensor, or wheel hub issue. Lots of posts on these items on forum

Thanks for the replies. This is truly driving me nuts!
Would a brake/ABS problem result in limp mode?
I'm hoping that a new MAP sensor which I ordered from Summit Racing as it's cheaper than ID parts will help. The next try would be to replace the hoses although the airbox down hose is 1 year old and the other hoses look and feel ok. The hose to the fuel controller was removed, cleaned and inspected ok.
Running out of ideas.
My code list says P0069= MAP sensor-barometric pressure correlation MAP sensor, mechanical fault.
code U0121= PCM lost communication with ABS module
I know we have a bad #2 glow plug and have replaced it twice. First time it came out with a small chip missing which I hope exited via the exhaust???? CEL code 1263 on again.
Just replaced the alternator a/c bad pulley, did the fuel filter header changeout two years ago and RR Brake overheated and both rear discs etc replaced 3 years ago.
What a history! Haven't had so much fun since I was 13 trying to fix a Crosley with a leaky water jacket!
Thanks again, Richard

No..an ABS problem will not put the jeep in limp mode. Do you have a 2nd gen fuel filter head?

Is the MAP sensor "wet" when you pulled it out? Did the limp mode start right after the oil change? I had the same problem the last oil change, pulled the oil filter emptied it and reinstalled it, runs fine now clean sensor with electronic contact cleaner.....

WOW!!!
We put in a new MAP sensor from Summit Racing (much cheaper) and the problem is solved!

Plus, and I can't believe this but, after driving the jeep around town and on the highway I reset the MIL again and the Ck Eng light is out!!!!? It's been on because of the #2 glow plug replacement (2nd time) for weeks......code 1263).....I just hope this continues as it's amazing!

Thanks to all for the help and ideas.

Richard
