I need to free up some real estate under the hood of my jeep for a project I am working on. Has anyone relocated the battery? I use AGM's so positioning does allow for some greater options.

Thanx,

R.

There is a dual battery post at http://www.jeepkj.com/forum/f202/how-du ... tup-42099/ . I presume that could be modified into a single battery in the back; of course the battery tray in the back would need to be secured (a marine battery tray would probably do.

I also have a vague memory of one of the Aussie members on http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/vbindex.php doing a battery install in the sidewall of the rear luggage compartment.

I cannot offer any opinion on correct wiring though.

Thanks, I like the aussie idea! I didn't realize there was that much dead space behind the fender facia.

Got a link to the aussie trunk relocation? I couldn't find it.

Here is another link, started by a South African "Bulli".
This has the link to the Australian site as posted above but also shows how Bulli fitted the battery in the cargo area...needs a neater battery base and a cleaner cutting/re-fixing of the inner liner I think but the basic idea looks good. :)

Looking at most any late model BMW will show that they tend to have the battery located in the rear of the vehicle, quite often in the right rear of the trunk area. Given that you are using AGM, you may also check into racing or aviation batteries that are also smaller in footprint. Hope this helps.

Thanks for posting the link Billwill; that's the one I remembered but was too busy getting my Mom back home from hospital to look for it.
