I have the Bosch VCI 2 Diagnostic Reprogrammer tool and software in my shop and played with it on the CRD today. Besides selecting many of the sensors and see the values I was able to do function tests. That is turn things on and off such as radiator fan, A/C compressor or the horn or lights. I can run test such as cylinder balance and cut off cylinders completely one by one if needed. I can even perform an EGR test if needed. I can reset the computers to relearn including the transmission in seconds. Also it can flash the computers from the Chrysler website since it is J2534 compliant. This is a great tool for my shop since it works for nearly all makes and models up to current model year.

If I may make so bold: -does it allow reprogramming of the EVIC, odo and speedo? -how much does it cost? Source? |

The one thing I looked for is changing tire size and can go into the instrument cluster but don't see it. I know it can calibrate the cruise control. The cost is about 4k with software and subscription. You don't want to buy something like this unless you have a shop and the traffic. |

You can get a used DRBIII for less than that which does all those same things......but it only works on 2005- and not on 2006s+. You cannot reprogram the odometer, but you can recalibrate the odo and and speedo. speedo is recalibrated in the ACM and the odo in the BCM. |

The Snap-On Solus Pro performs those functions too. If the menu is similar, the speedo/odometer programming is in functional tests under pinion factor. Scan tools of this caliber are indeed indisposable at a repair shop, I kicked the decision around for a while because $3-4,000 is a lot of money... I have yet to regret it other then not spending more to get a higher model that can graph more then four live data functions. But that is on rare occasion and the $2,000 it saved me was needed elsewhere. |

Yes this does only 4 live data at a time but I have quite a big selection. I am leasing this tool through NAPA so I get 100% tax write off as oppose to deprecation deduction. Also during the lease Bosch will keep it upgraded for free so I know all will be current. At the end of the lease period I can go to a different tool and not be stuck with a dinosaur in my toolbox. There are better tools out there and thought about going with OTC but they are so much more costly and didn't offer me a lease program. |
