Does anyone know of anyone who is willing to modify a wiring harness from a gas liberty for the lift pump going into my CRD? I know I can do the wiring but I don't have the time right now!

You can do the wiring in less than 20 minutes.... its the easiest part of the lift pump install :) I just made my own harness your really just tapping into the pump power wire under the rear seat and then connecting the ground wire to the body.

I did the same. Tapped into the wire and ran my own wire to the lift pump.

Agreed. Lengthen a section 5", disassemble the body harness connector and swap a couple pins around and that's it. You'll have 15x the time in the mechanical portion of the swap. (I modded a gas harness like it sounds like you are planning to do)

All the writeups I have found involve new connectors and extra wiring. Is there a new writeup that involves just a simple pin swap in a gas harness?

As I understand it if you want a neat/clean/fancy lift pump hookup you can wire in an OEM connector plug or add to one that's already in the back. Alternatively you can cheat and direct wire into the power line per http://liberty.eurekaboy.com/kennedy.htm

I would like to just do this simple and just add in the wire needed to get power to the pump.
I just received the airtex pump and did not order an new connectors or wiring harness. Can I simply just add a wire to the existing connector and solder the wire to the harness in the rear of the jeep?

Sorry I know this is not as difficult as I am thinking it is but I just want to what the things I need when i get the tank down!!

So the main questions what do i need besides the pump when I do this install. I don't mind a lone wire taped to the existing wiring harness. As I am sure you noticed, I am confused with all the options on how to wire this pump in!!!

Anyone in the SE Michigan area want to come "hold my hand"? I will pay for your fuel and buy the beer!!!

Far from Michigan... But yes, it is relatively easy, although your rear seat needs partial removal. The wire you need to get at is under the seat. Click this post to read more.

It isn't factory, but it works well.

A side question to this thread. Are all our tanks setup to run a pump in them? Or are there certain models that require a new tank because the opening in the tank does not fit the pump? Hope this makes sense. Thanks.

Peace.

I was lucky enough to receive an old wiring harness out of a late model neon. Cut wires to desired length took apart the pig tails, removed male and female connecters that i needed. Had them sitting around for a few months i was procrastinating dropping the tank. But when it was time to drop the tank i pulled the wire harness right off the vehicle, added in my two new wires with ends already attached taped the harness back together. That took all of about 30 min could have gotten it done quicker but i did not want a future problem. Then like stated above plugged it all back in grounded it out under the seat with a self tapping screw grinding paint off medal of course. Everything worked like a charm total time was only a few hours total.

Yeah, I need to stop acting like a sissy and just do it. I'm sure its much easier then I am making it out to be. I just hate the idea of not having everything I need when I start a project. I can't tell you have pissed I get when I have to go get more parts in the middle of something! I just ordered the needed pins and the extractor tool from Mouser.com and I'm sure I have some 18 gauge wire at work. Now If I can just find a new tip for my old weller soldering iron I will be ready.

thanks for the help... you guys should have just said "stop being a pwuss"!!
