I found this site after a Boost hose failure a couple months ago (THANK YOU!!!). Since then I have dutifully performed all the checks & repairs prescribed in the NOOB Guide... Here is the problem I am having: after replacing the boost hoses and cleaning the MAP sensor my MPG has gone from 23-25 down to 18-20. In addition, the engine seems to "drag" when I let off the gas. I have not gotten a single CEL or other code since the repairs (they were common before). I am thinking the MAP may have been damaged during the cleaning. Is there any way to check it? Should I just replace it? Any help would be appreciated! |

If the MAP was damaged you would have a CEL. Take a drive around the block and check your rotors to see if one of your brakes is dragging. Also take it somewhere and get it on a lift and have them spin the wheels to check for a bad bearing. Try the ORM, unplug your MAF sensor and see what happens, you'll get a CEL, but just for stuff & giggles. How many miles on it? |

X2 on checking your brakes. Perhaps more importantly have you done the timing belt job; I notice you are 12K miles past due and if you have not that is extremely risky. |

If you did the hose replacement and MAP cleaning about two months ago, that is just about the time fuel sellers would have switched to winterized diesel, which will give you about a 10% mileage hit even if nothing else changes. I would also agree with @papaindigo: you are overdue a timing belt replacement, and failure of that belt in service guarantees some VERY expensive repairs. |

It's winter, fuel formula has changed, you will get less mpg. |

The reason they are asking is because at 112.8k my timing belt skipped and crushed my rockers/lifters. If you haven't done it, you're living on borrowed time. SERIOUSLY. |
