I normally cruise at 85 mph and higher if I can get away with it. For past year or so I've had vibration felt in steering wheel and in floor while driving at these speeds. Wanted everyone know that replacing the front drive shaft fixed the issue. I got a lower mileage one from the seller of the used transmission that just got dropped into my ride. PS 80-85 mph is normal Colorado highway speed on certain sections of I-25 so please, no lectures. The liberty is a quite capable vehicle and can be safely driven at these speeds. |

Seriously, at 85+ MPH, even the normal wear in an older driveshaft would be noticeable. Everything is more noticeable at speed, exponentially so. |

good to hear that you found the problem to the vibration. but do you care about your the fuel you consume? at 85+ the air resistance goes with the square of the speed...just food for thought.. sorry physics is right... slow down save fuel.. -dkenny |

I can vouch for the "speed limit" on I25 from the Springs to Denver and before the SFA swap I was doing well over what he was in my KJ.Sadly now I'm gear limited to about 70mph,pretty comfy at 65mph,and no it's not for mpg's as I'm turning 3g's at 70mph with 5.13's in the diffs. |

Have you seen a rolled Liberty at these speeds?? I deal with crashes every day for work, I will leave it at that. I will say I have been dumb to and have reached those speeds not paying attention, but I am much more careful after working a Liberty crash... The extra weight of the diesel adds to the crush factor of the roof in an accident as well. Food for thought |

I agree w/ TJKJ, fuel economy isn't a consideration when I drive a Jeep and it still gets better fuel economy at 85-90 mph than my Ford Expedition does at 55mph. Its a bummer that TJKJ gearing doesn't allow him to hit triple digits in the right lane up Monument pass (its actually a hill for some reason gassers can't seem to go faster than 65mph in the left lane when the speed limit is 75mph) I don't worry about accidents or rollovers at speeds above effective translational lift
