My transmission cooler is leaking so am considering installing a stand alone cooler instead of replacing the cooler/condenser combo which comes stock in the CRD. Could someone familiar with the setup give me a bit of guidance? Can I remove the cooler/condenser combo and then remove the cooler from the combo which would then give me room for a new cooler? Or do I need to simply bypass the old leaking cooler and fit a new cooler in somewhere? Any recommendations on a cooler to use as a replacement? I did a quick search last night and found a Hayden #678 that seems like it would work. Thoughts? OR, might it be possible to patch the leak? NOt exactly sure from where it's leaking but if someone has patched one of these let me know what you used. I am in the initial stages of considering this job so bear with me if I'm way off on some of these ideas. Look forward to some feedback. |

You need to clean the goop from the area and make sure it's not just the in/out fittings leaking. That's sometimes the case (goop goes everywhere in the wind) in which case the fittings can be fixed. If not best bypass the tranny portion of the condensor entirely and install an after market tranny cooler. See examples at http://liberty.eurekaboy.com/transcooler.htm and http://colorado4wheel.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=45 and viewtopic.php?f=5&t=62013&p=686385&hilit=cooler#p686385 and viewtopic.php?f=5&t=69453&p=742547#p742547 |

Awesome papaindigo, just what I'm looking for. Now if the search function were any good on this forum I would have found the 2 from LOSTJEEPS all by myself! Thanks again. |
