Hi, does anyone know if you can swap the later heater control bezel with the air con off/on switch on it, rather than always having it on when the air flow is switched to the windscreen, with the older type bezel. Mine is a 2004 2.5 crd.
I assume that the basic wiring would be similar , any info on this would be great, thanks.

I don't know if the bezels can be swapped but if I understand the reason for your question then whether or not they can be swapped doesn't matter. The 05/06 controls do have an AC on/off switch but it only works in certain modes; for example even if the AC switch is off the AC compressor runs when the defrost mode is selected in order to dry out the air being circulated. I suspect the 04 is similar.

If you want to turn the AC compressor on/off in all modes you have to install a manual AC compressor cutout switch like kapalczynski did or mess with the circuits on the switch itself somewhat like this post viewtopic.php?f=5&t=6042&p=180099&hilit=+switch#p180099 I don't know if that posted method would work on an 04

Or do this,

By doing this, the AC will only come on when YOU press the AC button
