Well driving around today and pulled away from a light and all of a sudden no power. Wont go over 2k, then the RPM's went south and stalled, in traffic. Luckily, was rolling at about 15mph and was able to get off the road and into a parking lot. Turned the key off and tried a restart. The motor would catch and idle horribly, shaking the entire vehicle, for about 5 seconds and then just stall. Tried a couple of more times with same results. Made the call to have it towed. When the tow driver showed up, it of course started right up and seemed to idle decent. Had it towed to a dodge dealer as the local jeep dealer doesnt know crap about the crd. Kind of upset about hearing that there is no rental car assistance, atleast that is what the dealer said. Will keep the board posted. Greg |

Best of luck on this. Sorry to hear of your misfortune. Hope it is (a) easily cured and (b) coveredy 100% by warranty. Oh, and (c) never happens again. |

The same thing happened to ours two days ago except it started back up fine after the first try. I threw some power service in there hoping maybe it was just bad fuel. |

Sounds like it is starved for fuel or starved for air. I would start with the CAC hose where it connects to the motor. Make sure the anti-shutter valve is actually open or it will starve for air. Looks like a choke plate in a gas motor and is easily visible with the hose off. This plate moves (by electric motor) with changes in engine speed and in coordination with the EGR valve. This would also be a good time to check the buildup of oil crud in your intake. |

Finally got word back from the shop. The word is, or atleast they think, the torque converter and some drain back valve in the tranny cooler line are at fault. To make a long story short, they are replacing those two items and taking care of a couple of TSB's while they are at. Expected return isnt until Monday or Tuesday. Good thing we have a third car to drive, or the no rental reimbursement policy would have me pretty pist. Greg |
