Post subject:  another rocker arm question: same as?

I think that I have finally figured out the problem with my red 2006 that has been in my shop for months. I think I have at least one broken rocker. I am finally ready to open it up and work on it, but want to order a complete set before I do the tear down (If I don't use them for this project, I have 2 other CRD's that may in the future).

In researching for the best price, I found a lot of conflicting information. According to the following website, Chrysler used these rockers in a BUNCH of engines, including gasoline engines including the 3.6 liter V6, 2.0 I4, 2.4 I4, 5.7 V8, and the 3.7 V6: http://www.factorychryslerparts.com/pro ... 780AB.html

But other websites show different rockers for those engines. And they are considerably cheaper at about $28 each rocker+lifter (genuine Mopar).

Anyhow.....

The lowest price I could find in the USA was $667.04 for a set of 16 (rockers with lifters). $41.69 rocker+lifter

The lowest price I could find in England was $375.71 with shipping: $23.48 rocker +lifter

The ones from England (ebay seller named astale82) say they are "For LDV 2.5 - 2.8 CRD 16 valve engine set of 16 rocker arms and 16 lifters" They don't list a part number. Is this the correct set??? What does LDV stand for????

Corey from IDparts is suppose to have found a way to lower his prices on the rockers/lifters. Not sure if his source direct from VM in Italy has come through yet.

I would double check the info on the rockers being used in Chrysler gassers. They are made by 2 different companies. Mayby the 3.7 rockers are, and the computer is mis-programmed to think that all KJs are 3.7l?

A UK reference to LDV probably means LDV Group Limited which makes a panel van that uses the VM diesel motor.

As to whether or not they are the right ones I don't know but maybe Lancer could check if you pm him or I note the seller apparently has an email address (semaite@yahoo.co.uk) so you could query directly. That said this appears to be the seller Hexus (viewtopic.php?f=5&t=73626&p=770337&hilit=paypal#p770337) was dealing with and while the parts took sometime to arrive they were VM.

Just to let everyone know: I ordered the rockers and lifters on Sunday 1-13-13 from the British guy on Ebay (Astale82). They arrived here (Ohio, USA) on Wed. 1-16-13 at noon. That was much faster than I expected!!!! I highly recommend this guy!!!

So I can now tear down, repair, and hopefully get this Jeep back on the road.

I ordered mine on 12-12-12 and received them on Tuesday 1-15-13.

EBAY actually decided against him and gave me my money back, but once I had received the parts I went back into PAYPAL and paid him for what I received. I don't think this was any fault of his, more the postage system.

Obviously he's learned from past mistakes, heh....

I'm going to try and post this in every rocker thread possible, and please - everyone help pass this info around too:

http://www.vmdieselspecialist.com/ or http://www.vmdieselspecialist.co.uk/

They are a brick-and-mortar business, and a FULL SET SHIPPED to the USA was $403 for the rockers. That equates to about 14 pounds each, and they asked 25 pounds for the shipping - after the exchange rate, $403 was the total I paid. Apparently others have gotten it even cheaper, but that could be the exchange rate. Shipping was between 2-3 weeks, more to the delays by customs than anything else. It was shipped AIRMAIL by them, so it could have been faster too. I also didn't pay for super-fast service, but that was an option.

They accept credit cards, you can call them directly if you please (I did) and they are very nice to talk to. The only downside is the time difference.

Corey - You might want to give them a try if you haven't already, I did ask and they said they would be interested in larger orders, and might be able to make a bulk discount happen. They also sell LOTS of other parts for these, they rebuild the whole thing - so if you are seeking a supply of bearings / blocks / cylinder liners... There you go.

I have two crd's with rocker issues I call vm specialists in the UK I talked with George there and he has seen no issues with rockers on the engines in the UK. I will be sending the rockers from both of my engines to him as he'd like to send them back to the manufacturer and have them see why they failed. One had 80000miles the other 140000.

Those dam rockers.. Wish the rocker pins were better. I think with the EGR gone, new ones will last longer. At least i hope.
