A big thanks to Keith at GDE. I finally bought the hot tune with flash tool and am loving it. I couldn't help banging the go pedal hard. He gave me a fresh tune with a couple of custom tweaks and reverted the GP logic to 7 volts. I'll know tomorrow morning how the GP logic performs.

Shell Lake. There are a couple CRDs in Rice Lake also. I don't make it over to the Eagle River side of the state very often but I sometimes talk to Hams out there on the WI 440 network.

Yeah, I did mine 19 weeks ago and so far I've saved $120 in fuel costs and I've been able to pass my emissions test without having to drop ~$450 on an FCV.

I was very skeptical about comments of cleaner oil especially since I already had it ORMed and have experienced the state other diesels got their oil into. I can confirm that at ~1500 miles after my first oil change with the tune the oil is still relatively clear whereas previously it would have been as black as the ace of spades by this point. This really raises the question as to whether the ORM was really doing much at all?

The up front cost of the tune and programmer is a bit hard to swallow but it's almost paid for itself already. I just wish I'd done it sooner

I don't know what to make of the oil comments. I've been running SEGR since about 30K and have had the GDE tune for about 10K. Neither made any difference in how dark the oil is. It's pitch black before it's warm and has been like this since the Jeep was new. I've had oil analysis done and they tell me to run it longer (I don't). It is really, really black and stains anything it touches.

I'm up around Eagle River for a week or so every summer.

This is interesting to me. BEFORE my GDE Eco tune my oil was black immediately, and you're right, it used to stain my hands black for a few days when I tried to change it. It was so bad that I wore latex gloves.

After the tune, (50k ago?) my oil stays much lighter in color and my hands don't stain when I change the oil. I don't wear gloves anymore. I sort of forgot that it used to stain my hands real bad until I read this. I wonder if your EGR is closed correctly.

For the record, I have no idea what was staining my hands. I guess I'm going to say the extra soot.
