This morning, I had a brain fart. I turned my ignition on, and then sent a few texts. I went to start it and the plugs went cold. I clicked the key off and back on and nothing. Took the key out and open and closed the door and nothing. How do you get the glow plugs to come back on?

Would have thought they would reset rather quickly although perhaps not immediately. If they haven't perhaps you could disconnect the battery for like 10 minutes and then reconnect to "reboot" the system so to speak.

I just finished reading your posts re: ELM and your Droid. Was the device connected to the OBD port? Was it communicating with your phone?

@papa - that wasn't an option as i was already late for work. I got it started, but it was like starting with no glow plugs

@ tj2 - I had it connected by bluetooth to my droid. From my understanding, the 05's have better luck than the 06's

As for my question, I guess I should just pay attention and start the engine before I get distracted.

I asked Keith at GDE about cold starting and the GP's a few weeks ago and he suggested to turn the ignition off and back on again to give them a second blast. Here is some more explanation of the way they operate that he posted on the forum a couple of weeks ago:

Now I tried this key cycle trick and to be honest I'm not sure I noticed any of a difference doing it. The indicator light for sure doesn't come on the second time so I'm not 100% convinced that they are even coming on again at full power. If they don't come back on then doing this could be counter productive.

Did you try turning the ignition off and back on again after cranking?

Yes. Everything short of buckling and unbuckling the seat belt... And disconnecting the battery. Luckily it was a balmy 22 deg f.
