Didnt have the nutzerts, We just drill thru the exisisting nutzert hole. Someone gave me the skid w/o the hardware, I tried 3 different dealers and they all told me I had to buy a skid to get the hardware to attach it. With the F108N I wanted to make sure it wasnt sticking thru the opening. As I mentioned B4 Im not sure ill keep it that way, not sure I like it. as far as the shims, that was all my lil brother and his math and they are just a tad under an inch according to him :roll:

I also originally ordered a Fumoto and planned on installing one for ease of oil changes, BUT
decided not to. We changed/drained the oil and held the valve up to the install position and decided it was just
in to vulnerable of a position. It just hangs down too far. Bust it off and you're finished.
Skid plates- don't count on them not bending. (see pics in another thread).
My skids won't bend- what about a stick or a road gator or other road debris?
I know it's easier to just turn a valve, and if you are just a little bit careful and start the drain plug
with your fingers stripping will not be a problem.
I think the Fumoto is a great idea and valve, but just not in the location it has to go on in our rig.
Think about it before you install one.

I guess I missed this thread originally. Personally I think the drop on this skid is way overkill. I just put my skid on after having the dealer install the Fumoto and I have the nipple version which only differs in the fact that the nipple is there. If memory serves without the nipple it will be about flush without spacers but the hole in the skid for the drain is indented toward the pan perhaps 1/2" or more so most of the skid would be that far below the non-nipple Fumoto.

I may cut the nipple off mine now that I see there is no real advantage to it. The value of the nipple is if you have a lift or a pit so you can drop the end of the tube into the drain pan reducing splash. If you are just crawling under with a catch pan on the floor I can't see the advantage of the nipple/tube.

Well I isntalled my Fumoto and skid yesterday, and let me tell you it wasnt fun. I went to my brothers house and he has all the tools and toys. So we start to drill thru the cross member, and he was " this is ridiculous". So he decides to unbolt everything to get the X member off, and I was like "WHAT ARE YOU DOING"? Its easy to drill the other way he says, Im like UM YEA I KNOW, but I dont want my tranny and whatever else is under there to fall off, He tells me dont worry........ Anyhoo I have a few pics we did the spacer thing, not sure if i like it, but will try it out a few days. Oh and the fumoto valve, I got a lil carried away with the undercoating spray, and then rubbed off as I installed it but its fully functional. Not Sure I like the Gap ??? and the valve it sits above the opening... Ill post the rest of the pics later

Why did you have to drill the cross member? Mine were all pre stamped with square hole for the nut zerts and just took a couple of minutes to install. From the pictures it looks like you did a 1" to 1.5" shim, are you sure that much was needed?

I got it with my transfer case skid.

You know, you really didn't need to coat the drain valve itself. Being it's made out of brass, don't really think you're going to have a corrosion problem there.

Something could get up into the hole perhaps but if that happened and it was hard I would likely damage more that the Fumoto.

The Fomoto is fine but too big. I solve my problem with the Dragon oil Drain Valve. Sold by Trasko-usa.com call it the D- Valve. It cost now about $29.95 and it work very good. It is well worth it.... Nescosmo....

I have a drain plug and a couple of washers in the glove box just in case of problems.

Well as I mentioned in my original post that I didn't like the gap. it was rectified about a week after I got back from Moab in 06.
