do our turbo's have a silencer ring? any way to make it whine more? I have a custom stainless cold air intake which helps...also can I knoe we dont have blow off valves but can we tap into the intercooler for one? I love that sound

Ok then, Keep in mind that there aren't too many chest thumpers on this forum who go in for Red Neck mods and the CRD is a very different beast than a Dodge pickup with a Cummins. The Garrett turbo which we have doesn't have a silencer like the Holset units do. If you are after a reasonable turbo whine, a turbo back straight pipe will probably give you the most satisfaction but you will never get the same caliber of sound that comes from a Cummins, Duramax or Powerstroke. |

The unit we have is more than adequate for the engine. If you are looking for more than 200HP, GDE has the only turbo/Engine tune which will work. There are no other higher output turbos which will work without doing your own programing. |

No. You need to forget about turbo whine. The only way to get it is by straight-piping it and even then you will not be able to discern the sound from within the cab. Like I already posted, the little VM Motori 4 banger in the CRD is not like a Cummins. It's not good at making black smoke, it doesn't make a lot of noise, and it has no need for a high idle switch. |

This is sort of funny. Manufacturers work hard to minimize the turbo whine as it is annoying for most customers. Many products have resonators to dampen the noise, the KJ does not have a resonator FYI. If you want more turbo noise, install a formed metal pipe from the turbo to the CAC. The metal pipe will resonate much more noise than the stock rubber hose. |

If the feedback to a question is "That's a not a good idea because ....." then chances are the author of the response has a valid point and there may be something to learn there... We (the royal we) do try to ensure that the forums here are a positive representation of the jeep community. Suggesting that it's a good idea to intentionally create excess noise, pollutants, or otherwise generate havoc and violate the law or common courtesy with our vehicles doesn't really fit that model. Dan, I don't think we need a special forum section for tripe like this. What we need is to understand that this individual has an idea of what his vehicle should sound like and perform like... From watching such technically and mechanically accurate programs as the "Fast and the Furious" franchise... Gone in 60 Seconds, Deathrace... Or just about any movie with Jason Statham in it. Here's a free clue for the 14 year old who is bound and determined to destroy his CRD: What you are being told is the truth. These ARE NOT a low pressure, low tech diesel like the Cummins or PowerStroke or Duramax. You cannot do the things you want with this engine because it has been engineered to not do those things - They are all signs of an improperly tuned motor, wasting fuel (making smoke) and annoying the populace and working to continue the bad reputation that GM created around all things diesel in the late 70s. Your postings all sound like someone who would be better served by buying a Honduh Civic and covering it in 450HP of stickers. At least that way, you wouldn't end up destroying what is becoming a very hard to find rare vehicle in the USA. |

What do i right in response to this.? I wish i was a coffee drinker, best muffler mod ive ever seen on a jeep Im personally running no CAT with 2.5in Pipe from down pipe to a cheap thrush muffler from local parts store. (Its a work in progress) and i have it dumping out right in front of the rear axle. I love the sound it makes, Its not to loud I did have it straight piped that was obnoxiously loud and in my opinion sounded like garbage. And agreed well put geordi |
