I would like to here from people who had a turbocharger Failure. Please reply to the following questions. 1. How many miles were on your turbo at time of failure? 2. What kind of oil do you use? 3. What type of air filter do you use? 4. At what interval do you change the oil? 5. Do you have a GDE Tune? Which one? 6. Do you have the EGR system in place? or Blocked off? 7. Do you normally let the engine idle for a period of time prior to shutting the engine off? 8. Do you use your engine block heater where you live? Comments as to why you think it failed? Thank you! |

Ok Here is mine. 1. Approximately 80,000 Miles 2. At that time Mobile 0W-40, Now Rotella T6 5w-40 3. Wix 4. 6-7K Miles 5.No tune 6. EGR in Place and functional 7. Idle for 30s - 1 minute at end of trip. 8. Yes Use engine block heater in winter often I contribute the failure in part due to the turbo oil line rupturing at 35k miles, it was replaced under warranty but I believe it greatly affected the turbo. |

Aloha! Mine just failed this week. So if anyone has one out there that their looking to part with let me know. My 2006 CRD is completely stock no mods. 175Kmiles. It was one of the last one built in 2006. No other major problems/and very few minor problems, I occiasionly use the ORM to keep the EGR quite. Oil- Shell Rotella 5-50w synthetic nothing else at about 6K mile intervals. Block heater when able/needed ALWAYS! let it cool down 1-3 minutes. As far as why it failed? With very little information on how long they usually last I can't say. I beleive it should have lasted longer but have no data to back it up. I have a long history with Non-turbo VW's and you can't kill them. I stay away from turbocharged vehicles when possible. |

I would like to here from people who had a turbocharger Failure. Please reply to the following questions. 1. How many miles were on your turbo at time of failure? 119k 2. What kind of oil do you use? I switch from Mobil1 0W-40 to Shell Rotella T6 5W-40 3. What type of air filter do you use? Purolator 4. At what interval do you change the oil? 5000 5. Do you have a GDE Tune? Which one? No, soon though it's on the List 6. Do you have the EGR system in place? or Blocked off? Stock 7. Do you normally let the engine idle for a period of time prior to shutting the engine off? I usually let it idle between 20-30 seconds before I shut it down 8. Do you use your engine block heater where you live? When it gets below freezing. Comments as to why you think it failed? The amount of "play" seems fine in the old one. The exhaust seal just gave away. |

one more question to ask everyone (sorry to pile on) of those of you with turbo failure and no tune, how many of you have also had valve-train failure? one of the theories is that both could be caused by badly contaminated oil. |

Valve train (rockers) failure needs a post all by its self for sure! Thanks for your reply. |
