Hi all I'm new to this forum. I have a 2.8 crd 2002 auto. About 6 weeks ago i started to have problems starting it so checked glow plugs and all were fine then I thought it might be fuel so I put on a new filter and electric pump still no better it has also cut out 3 time once on outside lane overtaking a bus(near s--t myself). I managed to get it going and get it home now it won't start at all so put a new map sensor and cam position sensor still no joy. Done the ignition trick got codes p0340.So changed cam sensor don't know what these ones are. P1655. P1511. P1130. Now thinking crank sensor but would appreciate any feed back

P0340 - Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction

P1655 - Trouble code P1655 means: EVAP Purge Solenoid Control Circuit ?????????????????

P1511 - This code will set when:

TP less than 3.7% or TP greater than 9.8%
Vehicle Speed zero mph
Engine Speed less than 250 rpm
ECT is between 5°C (41°F) and 100°C (212°F)
IAT greater than 5°C (41°F)
Battery Voltage greater than 10 volts
Pedal Position less than 15%
DTC P1511 is a (type A) DTC

P1130 - HO2S Circuit Low Variance Bank 1 Sensor 1

I think you need the dealer to scan it and read the codes with the Starscan tool..... Or try another scanner with the latest updates.

You still may have a fuel problem? Air in the system before the fuel pump?

1. Do you have a 2nd gen fuel filter head? The old one lets air in.
2. You could place a 4 inch piece of clear hose between the fuel head and fuel pump. after priming there should be no air in the line.

Good luck

Your correct. Still look for air?

P1130 is fuel rail pressure malfunction small leak detected!

You sure you get P1655 and not P1685? P1655 does not make sense!
Re-check there is no air in the fuel system!

You can download the 2002 Service manuals here. Download the 2002 Jeep KJ Service Manual and you must download the 2.5_2.8 Export Diesel supplement for your Export Diesel which will be a 2.5 CRD if it is the 2002 model...2.8 Export CRD came out in about 2004 I believe. :?

Then download the 2003 Service manual from the link I posted although I would suggest you first download the 2.5_2.8 Export Diesel supplement as that covers the Export engines and has the error codes.

I would chase the P1130 code first!

ok now ive replaced the crankshaft position sensor got jeep started and ran ok came back and wouldnt start primed it up and it started but plunger never goes solid so i clamped the hose to the high preasure pump and it went solid iscrewed it down and left it overnight and was still solid in the morning will it be the fuel line from filter to pump (cant see any visual leaks) or is there seals in the pump or anywhere else

Replaced all the rubber fuel lines and it seems to have cured the problem. Thank god. Thanks for all the help also done the elephant hose and bypassed theft and it is far more responsive
