The indicator light for sure doesn't come on the second time so I'm not 100% convinced that they are even coming on again at full power. If they don't come back on then doing this could be counter productive.
Did you try turning the ignition off and back on again
after cranking?
Yes. Everything short of buckling and unbuckling the seat belt... And disconnecting the battery. Luckily it was a balmy 22 deg f.
