Sorry if this is in the wrong section but I contacted GDE and they sent me here. I am in Jackson MI and my wife totaled our CRD today (wasn't her fault). Luckily her and the baby are just fine. Anyways, didn't have full coverage and since Michigan is no fault, there is no way im gonna get any compensation for the jeep (my fault I know). Anyways, it sits at the shop now and I need some advice on what to do with it. Can't bare the thought of it ending up in some random salvage yard. 120k miles and ran like a top. Engine and trans are still good, just had the timing belt/waterpump/ and lots more done about 4k miles ago, and it has brand new cooper discovery at3's on it. I don't have pics yet but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on where this puppy could go to find a good home. Id be more than happy to get pics and explain in more detail, but I just wanted to feel everyone out on what they think I should do.
And anyone thinking of lecturing me on the insurance thing will be happy to know, I think I learned my lesson.
I am just happy everyone is ok.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
-Cody

Glad everyone is ok. Pictures would be good. If you won't get any compensation out of insurance you might consider parting it out. Good engines are somewhat in demand for example.

That's probably what I will do, I just don't have a ton of space. I do have a small garage capable of the task, and at least enough mechanical know-how to take things apart (my problem is getting them back together). I will try to get some pics asap.

#1 Everyone is ok. That is the best news.

#2, the Jeep. I would consider parting out the good CRD only stuff and take the body to the boneyard. That includes, but not limited to, the Engine, Transmission, Front Diff, ECM, TCM...more people can chime in as what else. Don't expect to sell the stuff overnight. I personally would love an engine in my Garage, but don't have the $$$$ to hand over for one.

Sold the jeep bright and early this morning to a eager buyer and picked up another 05 renegade gasser for my wife. loved the CRD but couldn't afford another one, hopefully she doesn't fill her up with diesel out of habit, if she does I may be on here with another engine for sale. lol. Thanks for all the speedy replies and advice.
