Well, yesterday I added 8 ounces of MMO to a full tank of diesel, my intent is to use it as a top end cleaner and not as a lube, I run pump biodiesel for that whenever I can or Power Service.

I drove it for 230 miles so far and noticed that the engine sounds a lot quieter with a quicker response of the throttle.

The EVIC doesn't like it though, the mileage dropped.

I am amazed at how the diesel tappet sound is now less noisy and the engine smoothed out. .

I'm not sure how this stuff, when added to the fuel, quieted the tappets.
Maybe you are trying to say that is somehow quieted the diesel knock/combustion sound?
Tappet noise is more directly related to engine oil.
So, maybe the MMO is helping to clean the carbon off the combustion chambers but not much else.

I have been runing Diesels for years. MB, Volvo, Cummins, Ford, Jeep and VW.

I allways add a fuel additive. I have used Marvel Mystery oil (MMO), 2 cyc and several others. I have found that 2 cyc dose not add any power and in some cases clog up the fuel injectors. MMO dose help the injectors, add power??? and you have to add alot per tank. Did not see lots of change.

I would suggest using:

1. Lubribor, it is a super concentrated Lubricity agent designed for Ultra low Sulfur Diesel. This stuf is the best!!! You only add 1/4 oz to 20 gallon. The only bad thing is its hard to find in stores. Can be orderd on line.

2. Another good choice. Power Services it is made for Diesels. Two types Regular and Anti-gel for winter. Adds power cleans and lubricates. You can get it at parts stores and walmart.

Injectors and pumps cost alot. Using a good fuel additive is key. I have never failed a pump or injector on any engine yet. KNOCK KNOCK

I have been using using ZDDP+ since 80K (110, now) and changing oil when it turns black at 4K, or so. (GDE tune keeps oil transparent for 2-3K.) 5-40 Mobil One mostly with 00-40 in dead of winter. Will see soon about rockers.
