So I know GDE and Diablo make performance modules for these CRD's. But who all makes them and what are your experiences with them? I know I've seen a lot of guys on here that really like the GDE stuff. Then I seem to recall seeing someone who didn't like them for some reason. I don't want to start a war here but want to find out what's out there. GDE seems pretty high on the pricing especially being it's just engine programming you're getting for $500 and you have to pay an additional $300 for transmission programming. Most chips/programmers for the diesel trucks run more in the $350-$400 range and include programming for both. |

Hmmm. . . I've never read a negative post about Keith's engine tunes. The eco-tune is the best money I've spent on the CRD. |

It would be nice if the tune was available for a simple subscription and we can use our own J2534 like all the manufactures allows. |

There are also these that you may want to consider: http://www.inmotionusa.com/ http://malonetuning.com/?page_id=1000 http://www.kermatdi.com/servlet/Categor ... iberty+CRD I did contact the latter 2 with some specific questions about their tunes but didn't get a response so they didn't get my business. Keith at GDE is knowledgeable, approachable, willing to help and is a regular contributor to this forum. He provides top notch service with a very fast turnaround. He'll tailor a tune to your requirements and to address specific issues with your vehicle. If you opt for the programming tool a quick email can have you an updated tune to change the glow plug algorithm, delete the FCV etc within a couple of hours. Yes, it may not be the cheapest option but you can rest assured that you'll get support when you need it. You're buying more than just the tune. I only recall one member, a couple of years ago, that was not happy with performance as he noted no mpg improvement. I suspect he probably had other issues. As far as I remember he returned it for a refund. |

If "J2534" means you have the flash tool to install the programming, GDE does provide the programming without the tool/tool rental. I would suggest that one reason the GDE tunes are expensive is that unlike programming for the other diesel trucks, Libby CRDs on the US market are a very small market indeed. There were only around 15,000 of them built for the US market in total and attrition has certainly cut into those numbers. We have a bigger share of the development costs to bear because of it. For what it is worth, I'm a pleased customer, having put the GDE ecotune on my rig. |
