As far as i know our little diesels will run off of a non low sulfur fuel source. Here in the USA they started making diesel low sulfur in 06. With that being said as long as it is home heating oil #2 filtered good i see no reason it would not run just fine. Keep an extra fuel filter on hand just in case. I may or may not run #2 Offroad in mine. Now i just do not pull up to a pump and start pumping Offroad in it that would be a little suicidal. But my garage furnace which is oil burning (not waste oil) i burn both and that may be where my supply comes from. Anyways just do you research. You may not get many responses back since it is an illegal thing to do. But nun the less good luck.

If you have not researched the difference here is a decent link

You need to realize that doing so is illegal in every state in the Union as well as every province of our neighbors to the north, Canada, not to mention the UK. And you are now on record on the internet (and in the "Way Back Machine" that keeps copies of things posted to the 'net) as inquiring about an illegal act.

It is illegal because there are road taxes that are not paid on heating oil, and the tax man Will Be Paid.

I mention this only because, well, it is illegal, and if "they" catch you at it, the fines are quite large. So whether it is doable or not, it is not likely to be economically feasible. The fines have been set to make it so.

As a note, it is just as illegal to run ANY kind of "home brew" such as, vegetable oil (waste or new), used or new motor oils, transmission fluid, etc . The reasoning is the same "no road taxes have been paid" on those fuels.

And diesel #2 is the same as home heating oil #2, and are dyed red. These #2 fuels are identical.

Yes it can and the only difference is no road tax, dye added in, and you should use Diesel Kleen or something similer for better lube... I have been using heat oil since i got the crd in august no problems and no power difference....Yes i know its a illegal and if you get caught it a $10,000 fine but that will be highly unlikely unless your pulling an oversize load and get stop by DOT and if they check it like a big rig and pull a fuel sample..but most Cops and DOT people dont even know that jeep made a liberty diesel...

So my thoughts DO IT....$3.41 a gallon or $4.05 a gallon for #1 on road diesel......$0.64 savings on ROAD TAX :-)r

and also my cousin in law CRD has been running it for 3.5 years now

I've run off road diesel and Jet A before. Works great hasn't given me any issues. You do get a little less power with Jet A and need to mix in a lubricity adder.

My home state it's $100,000 fine and they sieze the vehicle also and they check often and for smaller diesels they know which ones to target and yes the KJ CRD's are on the list(buddy back home works for the highway patrol). It can take 10+ tanks of running the non-dyed fuel to pass that strip test.

Well as stated you not legal to drive on the road. So....if you off road?????

1. #1 heating oil is ok to run but has less lubrication like Jet-A, so add a diesel lube so you don't burn up your pump. Do not use 2 cycle oil. It will clog up your injectors. Good lube is Lubrabor or Power Services and so on...

2. #2 heating oil is more like #2 diesel but will gel in the winter, so adding a non gel is needed.

I ran heating oil once. I was low on fuel and not likely to make it to a station that sold diesel in the rural area I was in at the time. the manager of the station directed me to the nearest place and sold me a few gallons of heating oil to use to be sure I'd make it there and I did with no issues, not legal and I'm sure he could have got busted for letting me pump it in the Jeep but he did only since I was near running out
