Did you pull the cover and look at the belt? If it did break or jump the intake will need to be removed to inspect the Rockers and Lifters. I suggest installing all new. At 130k you will have rocker rollers loose. Any looseness is bad. Where do you live? There may be someone close that can help you? |

Are the rockers most likely trashed? It happened at idle but I know this is a interference engine so its most likely.. any right ups on inspecting the valve train? sent from my sgh-1717 running CM10 |

From what i have seen, if you get as far as inspecting the rockers you might as well replace them while you are in there. Just compile the parts and dig in. It is pretty impressive it went over 120,000 miles though. |

Those are the right rockers, but you still need the lifters as they are known to get damaged as well. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2 |

Save the hassle of dealing with eBay... Google for "the vm specialist" (address is a .co.uk) and buy direct from them. Not only will the prices SMOKE the dealer's, they are less than just about everyone else I've seen too. Less than $400 shipped for a complete set of 16 lifters and rockers (only ever sold as a set) and genuine VM parts. Other internals are also available if you need them. Update I just removed the timing belt cover and the belt is not broken doesn't have slack either? When the jeep died I smelt a very strong rubber oder in cab and when I opened hood it was worse...is it safe to turn engine over with wrench to see if I can here any thing broke or is that a bad idea? ![]() sent from my sgh-1717 running CM10 |

Yes you can turn it over with a wrench to see if anything is binding/hitting. Hopefully there are some marks from when the belt was "possibly" changed and you can see if they line up. |

There are a couple timing belt write ups on this forum.... the info with pictures are there. Basically, you use (or make) pins that thread into the left and right side of the valve cover and into the cams to locate them and insert a 3rd pin through the bell housing / flywheel. |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dKVXvURxPI Doe's not sound like there are any broken lifter's or rocker's and I can't seem to find any broken teeth on the belt I did see a few little bits of rubber but that could be from wear and tear I do not know where the rubber smell was coming from |

For what it's worth: 1. as best I can tell from the video your TB tensioner needs tightening, Not saying it's loose just that it appears that the marker is off which may very well just be normal wear. 2. it would be prudent to go ahead and check to seen if the 3 timing marks line up (flywheel pin and the 2 cam pins) since you are just checking at this point I think you can probably do so using a 6mm or 1/4" allen key for the flywheel pin and a couple of appropriate size drill bits to check the cams. I would not use drill bits as cam pins if changing the timing belt but they should do to confirm that things are or are not lined up. As to your rubber smell. Is it possible one of the idlers or some such on the serpentine belt is seized and causing that belt to overheat? |

Hmmm yeah that could be the cause of the smell but would that cause the jeep to stall and not restart? Also just pulled codes for the fun of it and there was a p0093 code that I never had before sent from my sgh-1717 running CM10 |

That's a fuel rail pressure sensor code. If your serpentine belt is not running properly it could cause the battery not to charge properly which could result in a no restart; stall I don't know. |
