With all the Rocker & lifter damage being reported and oil debate going on.. and on....
I was wondering what OIL FILTER including P/N you are using and why? Standard size or Oversize?

My 05 CRD: 0 thru 40k it used Mopar P/N 05072720AA. 40k to 103k I have used Mobil 1 P/N M1211 or FRAM TG8316. All standard size filters. I have used these products in other cars with no problems. Is the only reason I have.

Thanks for your response

After reading several write ups, and watching you tube videos of people cutting open oil filters and inspecting them for quality/pleats/etc. I will only be using Napa Gold (WIX) oil filters now and forever more.

I would consider MANN filters if Wix was not available, but for me those are the only choices any more.

Part # is FIL 1516 at Napa Auto.

I'm fond of WIX filters and have been for years. WIX filters-oil 51515 (7 qts oil) vs 51516 (stock 6.3 qts oil); fuel 33647; air 42329; transmission set 58843. NAPA Gold, not their cheaper like fleet filters, appear to be WIX and IIRC typically have the same PN less the 1st digit.

I also use WIX fuel filters. I was told WIX makes Carquest filters. I'm not sure if that's true?

Which one? Napa gold 1516 is oversized & Napa gold 1348 is normal size.
Thanks.

I use the Mobil1-211 filter, but twice have used the napa correct size platinum filter. The Mobil1 filter was not available at the time to me. :BINGO:

Any views on the K&N oil filter? I can't recall the part no offhand, and I only ask because a specialist dealer over here has started to stock them and sent me an email to tell me this (I'm on his email list because I bought a fuel filter and Mopar diff additive from him).

This is exact reason I have been using Wix /Napa Gold (same mfg.) 51515 or Mobil 1 301 / Bosch DP 3500 (again same mfg.) but I find a little more at ease for using Bosch based on claimed better filter action and a little occasional extended run on oil.

M1-301 oversized - makes the fill almost exactly 7 quarts.

Could you guys post if there is one from that list that will NOT fit because of the rock guard/under armor? I'd hate to get one that I won't be able to fit in...

Almost all of them should fit as the oil filter does not stick down but along the body line so even the oversized ones tend to fit fine.....
