What is the consensus in the US and beyond on the Graf water pumps for the CRD? As far as I know, they are good pumps. I have used them on TDI's with success. Looks to be a cheaper alternative to the VM Mopar supplied pumps. Has anyone on here used them on the Liberty?

Mrausch,

I believe that Metelli SPA is the replacement pump manufacturer, a division of Graf..... based out of Cologne, Brescia, Italy.

Could this company also be the OEM pump manufacturer?

I was wondering that as well. I know Saleri is also another Italian water pump manufacturer, whose pumps I have used on other diesels with good luck. They make a CRD pump, but have not been able to locate one (when I was looking a while ago). Hepu also makes CRD pumps. They are a German company, and make excellent pumps. Again, I have never been able to locate a Hepu pump.

They sold 3 of them! :ROTFL: :-)r

Seriously though, my guess is that they changed the price to some absurd amount since they are out of stock until March. They probably did not want to pull the listing. The "sold" quantity were probably previous sales with a lower amount. I recall seeing these for under $75 US if I recall correctly.

I'd like to find the Saleri pumps. From pictures I found online, they look to have the same stamping and markings as the OE pump, but it is hard to say for sure. I have some emails out to my suppliers to see what the availability is. I also emailed Saleri about them.

Got a reply from Saleri, they ARE the OE supplier of pumps for our CRD's according to them. I am looking into availability of the pump.

That's the guy I got mine from, and the kit. ~$400 for both idlers, the tensioner, the timing belt, and the Water Pump front half with O-Rings.

It's made by Graf, and verified 100% that it pops right in the front, as I've already done mine with one of his, it's the right part.

I am curious... Gates, for example, has a different p/n timin belt in the US vs. Europe, and the same goes for the othe companies... Could it be due to the US having a 100k interval vs. the interval that the rest of the world gets? Graf is a good company. I would like to source the OE Saleri pumps which should be much cheaper than Mopar or VM...

I'm glad you brought this up - we sell a lot of Geba pumps for the TDIs and we've never had a failure, so I'd be all over having Geba pumps for the CRDs - if the price is right.

It does not appear that Geba makes a pump for the CRD, at least not according to their online catalog.
