Can we get a mod to unstick some of the old topics at the top of the CRD section? Here's my opinion

#1 CRD specific TSBs - Well they're not even making new specific TSBs and haven't in years. I think most CRDs on the market have already had all them. This can be searched for if needed. Unstick.

#2 Samco or OEM CAC hose - that debate has pretty much been settled - Samcos obviously, if you have the bucks. These hoses get discussed so much that not having this thread a sticky wouldn't hurt anyone. Unstick.

#3 & #4 Turbo diesel decals and Stealth decals - one or both of these should go. Post in the for sale section if you are still selling them. Unstick.

#5 Timing belt and water pump parts list. This gets brought up in a new thread every week and there are links to this thread and even online vendors selling the whole kit. This was a really useful thread but doesn't need to be sticky anymore. A simple search will find all you need to know on the subject. Unstick.

#6 Newbie FAQs and modifications - even says in the first line that it has been superseded and it links to the noob guide. Unstick.

I would appreciate others' opinions in cleaning up this forum a bit.

I agree. Would be nice the noob guide to have the links to some of the threads, like samco or timing belt parts. Better would be to have a list of useful parts, from timing belt and accessories to hoses. There were lots of threads on this subject but I don't think we have a consolidated thread with all of them. Agree, you can get the manual and search the numbers yourself, but still would be nice to have them on a list.

I think we should just wipe them all off.

Make every one search the old fashioned way, or start 100 new threads on things that have already been answered or solved. :5SHOTS:

But yeah, some of the repetitive ones should go.

I was actually going to ask for an "oil type" thread. I don't think that issue has been tackled very well. I visit this stupid site like an OCD lunatic and I still don't know what the correct idea is for oil. I know what I've used, but I think that we could have a central location for all future questions regarding oil. I think that we're going to be learning more about our rockers and lifters in the years to come, and the correct lubrication for this engine will be helpful.

Start the thread and ask TonyCRD to sticky it for you.

Tony has deserted us :(

Well, hopefully he has not deserted us and in fact will continue to advise us....especially as regards 2002 Export 2.5 CRDs :D

It is a good start, but a warning of blown seals and turbo at the section where the EHM is suggested would be the best? Consider all the other suggestions would not cause catastrophic damage?

Start the thread, send Tony a PM with the link, and he might sticky it if he feels it is appropriate, maybe send him this link too for the clean up? It might take a few days until he gets back to you though?

Agreed, get rid of them all

We only need one sticky:

Forum rules

Search before posting. The search on LOST is not good, use Google with the site specifier i.e.

site:site:lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/ which oil filter do you use

Anyone asking a question that has been posted a gazillion times already :banghead: will have his post deleted and be banned from posting for 90 days. Anyone who is guilty of replying to such a post will also be banned from posting for 30 days.

Lol, almost one step away of shooting those folks. I think the best way to go is to try having some consolidated threads for specific topics, like oil type, upgrades, mods, etc, pretty much sam's noob guide covers almost everything, don't know if he's willing/has the time to constantly update his thread with more links, but that could be definitely useful. And whoever creates a new post for an existing topic, the proper redirection to the consolidated thread could be given.

Yeah we will just have one super master thread and a dictator regime to monitor the forum!

It is called a noob guide for a reason, I read all that stuff before the noob guide ever existed, thanks to the original CRD owners and founders. But it is a good start for the noobs and I do not consider my self to be at that level after 7 years, thank you very much.

Having the noob guide (or any other new thread) pointing to various useful threads can't be bad. For ex, I may or may not have a list with timing belt job part numbers, but I know there is a link in noob guide that has it. Or I am thinking to change my oil filter and I'd like to see what people used with some additional explanations.

Bottom line is that this is a forum and it's purpose is to allow people to freely talk about jeep issues/facts/concerns. If somebody is wrong, so be it, that's why there are many others that can try to correct the wrong. It's up to the forum mods to make the rules, which from what I've seen so far are very relaxed in a good way.

The fact that you know everything is very commendable, but there are others that may find a consolidated thread very useful. Having couple consolidated threads shouldn't mean new posts will be forbidden, those consolidated threads would be meant to help finding information easier and also allow less stickies about similar topics.

What ever, search threw one big thread amongst the 1000s of issues, or have several threads to cover the individual issues, I am glad the mods are not going to buy into such a silly notion of the single sticky forum? But I agree there are a few repetitive stickies, 2 on stickers, 2 on noobs, Samco is an accessory? and the rest look to be just fine?

Lol. Who said to have just one sticky? That would defeat the purpose of the whole forum. To clarify, I am for one (not the only one) sticky thread (among other sticky threads non repetitive) that will hold links to other useful threads (non-sticky). Like for example a thread called "useful topics" which will include links to an "oil thread", "oil filter thread", "recommended mods and maintenance" and so on. Many forums already have that (naxja for example). I know all depends at the end on the time one has to dedicate in maintaining this kind of thread, which for most of us may be an issue.

Yeah, if you are willing to volunteer you time to maintaining the master thread it might work? Actually I like things they way they are, get rid of some of the dry stickies, and let the rest roll like it did for the past 8 or 9 years. :JEEPIN:

one sticky to rule them all? lol

I like that idea. CRD FAQ

People can make suggestions for links to be put there under various topics. Many of the other motorsports forums I belong to have such a think.. It seems to work well, reduces clutter yet makes a lot of information available.

Do we have any mods anymore?

Well, at least one other person has admitted to forum burnout.

I assumed the vendors supported the forum. Can you unsticky Darby Walters? His sig says he started this board.

My solution to burnout is to disappear for a while. Take a few weeks off and quit living CRD. TDIclub is a nice respite for me. . . if I just have to get an automotive forum fix :}
