Those bolts suck. I broke 7 or so T-50 bits trying to get them out. Getting some better branded tool helped fix this. I had good luck with a Craftsman and GearWrench brand bits. They came out with a 30 inch breaker bar and then it was really tough. Here is my thread on replacing my rear main seal, it has more details.
http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=73745Thanks for the link. I got mine out last night, only broke 1 bit - and that was really my fault for using a tamper proof bit - it has a hole down the middle which weakens it. Fortunately it broke on the last one, and I may or may not have used a Vice Grip to get that one out. [whistling_smiley]
But that does bring up a question. Do these need to be replaced? The FSM implies that they are stretch bolts, and new ones should be used. But they don't look like stretch bolts. I'll buy new ones if I must, but this thing is already nickel and diming me bad. Not to mention the Franklins.

ETA: Just contacted Lisle about the broken Torx bit - they said not to bother returning it, they are just sending me a new one!

They just made a repeat customer.
