Hey everyone, I actually went off road this past week and have a question about shifting into 4 wheel low. IS IT REALLY MEANT TO BE THAT HARD? I read the manual it says to be going 3-5 mph push all the way forward and pull all the way back. This seems that you really have to plan your situation out ahead of time or you are not getting into 4 low.

Thanks,

It is hard as hell on this vehicle for some reason, mine has always been since it was brand new.

I would never shift into Low on the move unless required by circumstances because I was sliding towards a cliff. :ROTFL:

It's not as bad when you are sitting still, I would do that, period.

Also keep in mind you have to push down, IIRC.

From lack of use it will be hard. When I still had the OE t-case it was a little hard at 1st but after a few years of using 4low on a constant basis wheeling I could shift into 4low with one finger on the shifter. My atlas I alot more finicky but it's a gear to gear t-case with twin sticks.

I have found on all my Jeeps that I have owned to stop at a place that you can roll a bit. That way if it is binding you can roll forward or back to get it to slip in low.

Thanks,

Are you pulling slightly to the right like the path on the shift lever indicates?

CATCRD had it right I pushed towards the passanger side a little and shazam it shifted. Feel like a idiot for not just following the line next to the shifter. DUH!

Thanks!!

When ya encounter one of these, it's hard to know whether to be happy 'cause the "fix" turned out so simple/cheap, or embarrassed that it turned out so cheap/simple.

(We've ALL been there, btw.)

Glad you got connected up with a solution to the problem.
