I am hoping that there is someone that can help me with an ignition issue. My 05 CRD has been stalling out at start up for the past couple of weeks and it seems to be related to my ignition.

If i put the key in the ignition and turn to start it fires, runs for about 3 seconds and then dies. When i turn the key again no power at all goes to the starter.

When I pull the key out of the ignition and retry it will start and run perfectly fine if i make sure to push the key deliberately and fully in.

a lazy key insertion won't work but the thing seems to work just fine with full penetration...keep it clean fellas...

does this sound like an ignition switch actuator pin issue?

Does anyone have any suggestions ...

thanks

Worth a check. The Dorman actuator pin replacement part is 924704 which is pretty inexpensive and there is a replacement how to video at http://www.dormanproducts.com/p-45278-924-704.aspx

I recall at least one post about a cracked pin causing odd intermittent problems.

I had to replace mine: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... c28bae1b42

The pot metal breaks on one side, so the remaining plastic bends and makes turning the key hit and miss until it breaks completely.

Replacement was fairly simple - take a look at the photos (link above).

Good luck,

Mark
