tonight my horn started goin off all on its own. the only way I could get it to stop is removing the battery. any thoughts on what may be the problem I have not been able to find any definitive answer for this problem. thanks in advance for all helps or guidance. Grant |

What has the weather been like where you are at and do you have good seals on your drivers door? A few years back my BCM got wet and I was having the same problem |

Just recently I had the same problem.....my horn started going off by itself. I had to pull the cable off the battery to get it to stop. I did also have some water that somehow got in by the fuse block by the driver's door. I pulled each fuse out one by one and dried them out with a hair dryer and applied dielectric grease before reinserting. My battery was also testing as having a slightly low charge at Advance Auto Parts (as well as reading a lower voltage than it should be on my meter when inserting the key and putting it to the on position without starting). I replaced the battery with a new Sears Platinum P1 and it hasn't happened since. Whether it was the bit of water that got back by the fuse block or the battery that caused the issue I'm not 100% certain. It could have been the combination of both. If you check and don't see any issues with the fuse block being wet at all......I'd look toward the battery. First thing is to pull out the horn relay. Then trace the wiring by downloading the relevant year KJ Service Manual here...includes the circuit diagrams. Could be the clock spring under the steering boss is faulty....some KJs have "hood open" switch on the right hand side inside the engine bay. If this switch goes faulty the BCM thinks someone is trying to hot-wire your Jeep and blows the horn....you need to try dis-connect this switch or short it out...not sure which one overides the function of this switch. ![]() Manuals here: http://www.colorado4wheel.com/manuals/Jeep/KJ |
