This CRD KJ claims to have 338,293 miles on it, definitely the most miles I've seen for one of ours. Would love to know the maintenance history on this one...

There was 1 on Ebay a while back that had 300k+. Said to run perfectly but didn't mention a rebuild or engine replacement.

There is one in New Rochelle, NY. that has over 226k miles and the engine has not been rebuilt.

I know of one in Tennessee with 276K miles, no engine rebuild.

I know of one in CT with 180k.

Another in NJ with over 300K that posted on this board and ran 20w50 oil in it. Sold for just over $6,000.

Well I know the guy who traded this CRD in...He went and bought another CRD with about 50,000 miles on it

This CRD is on its second motor...the first motor made it to about 230,000 until the original timing belt ate it

and $5500 is over 3 times what he traded it in for lol

Mine has a 191k on it and climbing. I'm still debating whether I should sell it now, or do the 200k maintenance and all the usual upgrades (GDE tune, TC upgrade, etc) and plan to run it out to 300k. I put on 20k+ a year. Who else out there is in the 200k club? Do these things turn into money pits over 200k?

Seriously?
And you haven't:
broken rocker arms?
blown a turbo?
blown a head gasket?
broken a timing belt?
dropped a valve?
kicked a rod?
spun a bearing?
hit a deer?
used your CRD to dispose of a dead hooker?

To what do you owe such excellent longevity?

(BTW, my hard drive crashed and I have not yet reinstalled my sarcasm font. You will have to
use your own wit to figure out which lines are sarcasm.)

If you have not been running most of those miles with SEGR or a GDE tune, even with 5K oil change intervals and ORM, your rockers have to be shot.

Read the "Rocker arm wear" thread. Get "Torque Pro" and ELM327 and do the "MAF test" immediately. If you get a low value, you need to replace rockers/lifters right away or tow to trade-in/auction.

Just trying to save you from having the value of your rig going to almost zero in a near-term heartbeat.

Sorry,

DOC

DOC, thanks for the informative post. I read the thread and posted my results there. (http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=785801#p785801)

I didn't own it until 164k, and the previous owners ran mobil1 0w40 and EGR for all of those miles as far as I know. I've had the ORM and better oil in it since 167k. Despite the airflow test passing right now, sounds like I should still be worried just given the miles without these other things done to it.

Approaching 230K on mine so far, only needed to replace the alternator and it hit a deer on the interstate once. The only real issue it has is the common stain on the cloth seats after cleaning them.

Glad to hear a couple good stories. The only thing that ever gets posted and mentioned is horror stories  , I know these things are not the greatest diesel ever made but I simple love my little liberty. With that said I'm approaching a measly 126k and have a trip to Texas planned the second week in may. Ill be in shock to see green grass and anything over 45f. I'm hoping this thing does not let me down now. Also hope I did not just jinx myself. With that said I do need to do the maf test sooner than later for added reassurance.

It has ran Shell 5w40 synthetic for its whole life. A lot of the miles are highway which would cause the vanes in the turbo to stick, after around 50k miles I started to make it a routine to take it to redline once a day in order to keep the vanes from sticking. My parents also had a CRD, but they recently got rid of it after 120k miles, it never ran well and was always a bit slower than mine.

I'm at 158000 on mine wonder if at 200000 it would be a good time to do a top end. A new motor only 8300. plus install.

There's currently one listed on Craig's list in St. Paul with 191k for sale

That one's mine. :) http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ram/c ... 15998.html

I'm going to let the market decide for me... if I get close to my asking price, I'll let it go. If I have to do the TB/WP before it sells I'll keep it and make a run for 300k.

My Libby will probably die before the engine does. I live rural and it has to run a lot of dusty or muddy gravel roads frequently. Not to mention is has to do some work around the farm to earn it's keep. I only have 126K on my '06. Got the timing belt work done and put on new upper and lower radiator hoses and thermostat and glow plugs at around 105K. Still original other than that. Dog gone good vehicle overall. I will keep it till it is ready for the scrap heap. Wife will tolerate no mention of getting rid of it. The one thing I will listen to her and follow her desire on. Kinda hard to let go of that normal 32-34 mpg on road trips with it.
