3.0l om642 mercedes swap....dreaming

Would it be feasible to put the 3.0l Mercedes diesel in a kj? It came in the grands that also came with the v-8 powertech's witch have been squeezed into the kj's as well. That sprung the idea that it could be possible to put one in kj fairly easily. The 45rfe could be reprogrammed as well and it would be like the 545rfe i believe. I know anything can be done with enough money. Anyone played around with this idea? I am very intrigued by it and interested.

This was discussed when the Grands first come out but you are talking about some money and a motor that is and electronic juggernaut with all of its EGR and pollution control systems. And the 45rfe could be easily converted to a 545rfe with a computer swap or reprogramming of the orginal computer my current GED TCM tune is on a 45rfe computer. Also you have to factor in the extra wieght of that motor if i remember correctly it is 300 pounds heavier then the CRDs motor which means about your only option would be custom shocks and subframe. Or you could just go all out with this swap and do and SFA and stiffen the whole frame and slide that motor in with just electronic worries.

Sometimes I wished I had built a GC CRD instead... but they just cost more money and even LESS support for aftermarket products.
