I doubt there is much you can do without risk. Diesels inherently run colder and take a bit longer to warm up than a gasser. On the CRD warmup is somewhat speeded up, very little in my opinion, by the viscous heater, and the rate of opening of the thermostat. If you have a failing OEM thermostat that opens or starts to open early then warm up will be retarded and the engine may never reach operating temperature. If the tstat is the issue then you need a replacement OEM tstat, best option in my opinion, or you can try the inline option which may be problematic when towing. If the tstat is not the issue the only other alternative is to plug in the block heater, ideally on a timer set to come on ca. 2-4 hrs before starting.
The CRD has an electric fan just behind the grill that as far as I know only runs when certain AC sensors tell it to run either in the low or high speed mode. For what it's worth if your OEM tstat is somewhat failing (e.g. temp guage sits at about 3/8ths instead of 1/2 and ambient temp is above ca. 65F then running the AC will bring the engine temp up to normal). There is also the mechanical fan but if that fan's clutch is operating properly it only spins slowly until the air temp off the radiator locks up the clutch for full fan speed. Some have played around with partially blocking airflow past the radiator during winter but how well that works for warm up and what it does to operating temp once warm I don't know.
