After a two month CRD sabbatical my Jeep is back on the road again! ![]() In our last episode, I had just completed adding ASFIR skid plates, trailer hitch and GDE eco tune and when the work was complete I lowered the Jeep back to the ground, turned the key and all it would do is crank with no attempt to fire and the throttle idiot light would start flashing after the ECU ran it's check. I was able to read the ECU error codes that showed there were SIX different codes showing OPEN/GRND sensors all across the engine. Keith at GDE thought it was either the ASD relay or a wiring issue. I checked the battery, relays, fuses, sensors and even shipped the ECU back to Keith to make sure it was okay. After giving up and actually READING the 06 KJ SM (thank you guys!) it stated that if multiple open/grnd messages are present to do a couple of checks to make sure the overall pwr/ground circuits for the ECU were working. I was able to see that many of the sensors were run off of the same power wire that wound it's way all the way around the engine bay with splices all along the way. Long story made short...I got extremely busy at work after this and ended up taking it to my neighbor's auto shop. He was able to finally find the root issue, the previous owner had been in an (unreported by Carfax!) accident which had caused some RH Fwd damage. The body panels were replaced, but the damage to the wire harness was not fixed, leaving several bare wires exposed to the elements! (Including I expect, the guilty power wire!) ![]() First drive in two months and I'm back in love! ![]() |
