Last night took the girlfriend out to dinner and movie, after the movie the jeep wouldnt start, had plenty of battery juice, but no start no fire. As in Wouldnt even turn over. I figured a loose connection at the battery or i needed to disconect the edge tuner thats in it and it would start. Nothing. At this point i had i towed and got it home late this morning. Im thinking selonoid....? Im going to go out and jump the starter manually and see if i get anything. It has a starter that is less then 6 months old and its not a remfd.. BEfore i start going crazy are the crds known to do this and its my ignition cylinder or any other thing that i just dont know about with these jeeps.?

Thanks And the quicker the response the better as i am suppose to be 3 hours away by 4pm this afternoon.

Very likely the plastic pin that the key turns that then in turn turns on the ignition switch that in turn tells the ECU to tell the starter to crank.

See test/jumping procedure at viewtopic.php?f=5&t=61233&p=678574&hilit=+brother#p678574 and switch install video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5m31g0- ... plpp_video

Thanks Papaindingo! Well its been raining like a SOB over here in Vt, i grabbed the tarps for the dirt driveway where the jeep was dropped off last night and worked on her. First checked the starter fuse under the hood, the 10 amp one. It was blown, replaced it still nothing. Went to the fuse panel inside the jeep to check them, they were all good. Ended up taking my jumper cables hooking positive lead to the battery and going down under the starter unhooked the yellow female clip that jumps the selonoid. Hooked some aligater clips to the male prong out fo the starter and bumped her a couple of times. The starter did the "im stuck all the way out and hitting or am stuck on the ring gear noise" and so i bumped her a couple more times and still the same noise. Gave her a couple seconds and hit the starter lightly with a adjustable wrench bumped her a couple more times, nothing. Once more and she cranked.

I am thinking the starter gear was stuck out on the flywheel. I do know when i bought the rig almost 6 months ago it had a brandy new starter put it right as i was buying it. The owner i bought it off of said there was a small knick in one of the gears on the ring gear, this has me to believe that the starter gear got jammed out on that knick and it was a 1 in a million chance that it happened. i have started the jeep up again cold to make sure it would work, then brought her up to full operating temp and shut her down and she still fires back up.

Input would be nice, but i believe what i had stated was the culprit, lets just hope it doesnt happen again when im out on a trail or something

WELL started stuck again. Thinking it must be my sellonoid. Anyone know where i can just buy the selenoid and not the whole starter?

I not sure anyone sells the solenoid separately anymore. With what you describe, are you sure you want to only replace the solenoid? If the bendix gets stuck in the extended position, then the retracting spring isn't working anymore.

Might as well ask at your auto store what the warranty is, you obviously want the lifetime warranty.
