trans slipping on occasion.

Well I finally changed the trans fluid with atf+4 and both filters because my drain back valve was messed up. Had one of the bsd screw on filters probably. Was good for about 2 weeks now im having serious slippage from 2nd to 3rd gear sometimes not all the time. Any suggestions? I already checked fluid level. We chsmge the fluid every 50k since new has just under a 100k now. Never did a tranny flush just new filters and fluid. I also reset tcm by disconnecting battery. Ran smooth for a while after that and now im having an intermittent slippage problems again 50 miles later. Help lol

I have *heard* that doing a tranny flush on a car that has no regularly had one or a fluid change can cause transmission problems to develop. Not sure how true this is, but I have HEARD not to do it if you have a high mileage vehicle and haven't done it before.

Also, apparently the 2nd to 3rd shift is somewhat common with this vehicle. I was reading a thread where a lot of people say if they drive really slow they can feel it.

I didnt do a tranny flush. I just changed the fluid. Its almost like its a computer problem. I hsbe had this problem before and it went away eventually on its own. Its freaking me out a little thats all

The 2-3 shift problem is pretty common. usually feels like an overly hard shift at light throttle.
Mine does it on rare occasion. Mine also still has the drain back problem after fluid and filter
change and transgo shift kit.
I have learned to deal with both problems and they don't really hurt my driveability.

Try driving it in a normal manner around town, manually shifting 1-3. See if it still does the
hard shift.

I know, manual shifting doesn't sound normal. Just don't be drag racing it.

When stopped, move the shift lever down to 1. Then accelerate and when you get to 2500 rpm (or whatever is a comfortable rpm for you) shift to 2. Keep accelerating and shift to 3 or D.
If you start with OD-off, you can control when you shift into 4th by turning the OD-on.
No control over the 5th gear shift. It always happens at 60 mph.

Its very weird. If I reset battery it shift fine for a little while. Then it starts shifting like crap from 2nd to 3rd gear all of a sudden. Im so mad im about to trade it in. I almosy got rid of it a couple months ago but I fixed all the problems instead. Now im having problems again go figure. Also does not do it when manually shifted.

If it doesn't have a shift problem when shifting manually then its not a hydraulic or valve problem. It's an electronic problem. Could be a bad sensor on the transmission or a loose wire connection somewhere.

I seem to have a memory of someone having a loose sensor plug on the tranny. Might want the check them all and while at it apply some dielectric grease to seal out water. Just a thought and a cheap one at that.

Could be:
Bad sensor;
Bad wiring;
Steel powder on the sensor.
