I haven't, but we are driving my camper cross country right now. I've done it before, it is one of the best experiences in the world, and I can't see why the Jeep wouldn't be perfect. FWIW, I am surprised at how high the gas prices are here in the upper midwest ($4/ gallon in Wisconsin, almost $5 in Chicago) but was surprised to see diesel a bit lower than unleaded. |

Not quite coast to coast but not too far from it viewtopic.php?f=5&t=69117&p=739421#p739421 . Return trip loaded having driven his CRD the same route in reverse unloaded 2 years before with a side trip to Austin to visit family. Missing only 360 miles between the Tempe and San Diego and 175 miles between Tallahassee and Jacksonville Beach. Of course stoutdog's CRD was also driven to LA at a different time while he was in grad school so if you combine his LA trip with the drive home his vehicle has gone essentially coast to coast. |

At this point, I would rather rent a car. I don't have a faith in mine to take my further to work and back. Maybe after I figure out this roar sound i have I will feel a little better. |

Have traveled from northern California to central Montana (about 1300 miles one-way) and back three times so far in mine. Not a single issue. Short trips promote more problems than long highway cruises in my experience. With very few exceptions (such as cars with chronic fluid leaks), if a vehicle will drive down the block and back 7 days a week, it'll cruise across the country. |

I've driven mine on two occasions now from MN/WI area to east TX total 3000 miles in a week on both trips with no problem. I wasn't towing or heavily loaded but 3000 miles in a week the thing was barely ever shut off. I do all my own maintanance and if your confident in your machine I see no problem with this what so ever. |

I've driven between FL and NY many times, often turning around within a week. It's about 2600 miles round trip. I've got 120K on mine and I'd take it tomorrow if I needed to. |

Driven from Austin to Colorado twice, Austin to Arkansas, Austin to Big Bend several times, and planning on taking it to Florida next month. Never had an issue. |

Mine has been coast to coast from Delaware to Washington towing a enclosed trailer ten round trips. So that is 60,000 miles of hard use with the only trouble is a cracked turbo oil line. |

It recommend everyone drive the Alcan Highway at least once in their life. It also helps when an employer pays for the gas and hotel rooms. |

Well - I wasn't towing anything - but Austin to Moab - which included Steelbender and Hell's Revenge then on to Vancouver, Canada (got a cousin there) then back down the Pacific coast and across to Austin.. total ~ 6600 miles. only issue was the blown tire at Steelbender - messed with the alignment and that got fixed in Nevada. |

Would do it again today. Despite various problems with my CRD later, long trips like this seem perfect for the vehicle, better than short around town use. Also camped a couple times at Black Rock Desert NV (AKA Burning Man) where had to idle for an hour or two to get through heat and dust storms. The Liberty CRD is a great idea. |

I've done Minneapolis to Moab,UT twice, and Minneapolis to CO all in the last year since I've owned mine. Each total trip mileage was 2500-3000 miles, no issues. And I think I have one of the highest mileage CRD's on this forum... just under 200k.

yakers wrote: long trips like this seem perfect for the vehicle, better than short around town use. x2 I don't think running bothers these engines at all - it's the stop and go - the short trips to the grocery store - that'll kill them. oh yeah and I've taken a couple of other trips to Moab and 1/2 dozen to Colorado - but they're 900-1200 each direction I like to drive back roads - only concern becomes fuel quality - so fillups close to the Interstate tend to have fewer issues - but carry a spare filter in case. |

My wife drove from Gulfport MS to Anchorage and I met her in Anchorage. I drove to Homer and we then caught the Alaska ferry down to Sand Point AK. 10 months later we caught the ferry back to Homer and drove back to Gulfport. So really its over 9000 miles but I only was in the vehicle for half of it. |
