Hey folks,

Do you know is our transmission has a built in bypass (that allows flow to the.cooler only when oil reaches a specific temperature)? I installed a new cooler and deleted the stock one, and I also added a temp gauge w probe. The probe is installed on the pressure line close to front of the car's radiator. I had to drive in city for almost an hour to register a temperature on the gauge (starts at 100 stops at 260). With an ir thermometer I checked the temperature and indeed, after pressure line passed 100 degrees, the gauge started to indicate. The transmission oil pan had about 130-ish degrees, but the pressure line had slightly over 100. In time, the pressure line temp started to rise, and so did the gauge, so this setup definitely reads accurate temperatures, just curious if the transmission opens a valve to allow fluid towards cooler only after a specific temperature reaches some value.

If you're asking if there is a thermostat, yes, I believe there is.

Thanks hexus, thats what I was wondering. I'd assume that the thermal bypass (thermostat) is located inside transmission, correct? Also, anybody knows when it starts opening (what temperature) ?
